- I just looked through the communities they mod. Unless you are dying to engage with illegalimigration, mixedrace, revelation, askconspiracytheorists, antiwitchcraft, fluoride, chemtrails, or newworldorder, I don’t think anything of value was lost. - Antiwitchcraft - What year is it? 1576?

- Who cares tho? - They also moderate. - Just wait until 3001 AD and the ban will expire. Since he’s clearly not a fan of transhumanism or other such fields of study he probably won’t still be around then to extend it.

- That same user downvoted every single post in a magazine I moderate. Completely unprovoked
- I’m not the biggest fan of public voting over here. I have a feeling in the long run it will cause way too much conflict. I’ve already had a run in with someone over here because I downvoted them and I’m not a super active user. - On the other hand it’s kinda funny to see when someone has clearly trawled your profile and reduced everything based on reading a conversation from a week ago. - It’s also really good when you’re having a discussion and getting 1 downvote each time, to be able to just look to see whether it’s the person you’re having the conversation with. - Occasionally people are not enjoying a discussion but instead of ending it they passive-aggressively downvote, and if I figure that out, I can just end the conversation and release them from their misery.

- lol they moderate 59 subs - There really does need to be a limit of how many magazines you’re allowed to moderate. There’s no way you can effectively moderate 59 different communities.
- ONLY 59? I just moderate one. - Your one’s cool! - Thanks!

- Me? I have four of them, one of them about this new acad fantasy Minecraft roleplay series since July 2nd.

- Why did you block him/her? - Also, I didn’t even know until now that we have supermods in kbin/lemmy. Lol. - They’re a super right-wing user that spreads false information and moderates. They shouldn’t be in a leadership role. - I just had a look at his profile, and wow, I wouldn’t call him “super right-wing.” I’d call him a loonie. Fortunately most of the magazines he’s squatting on have similarly loonie names and I doubt there’ll be much call to use them for anything productive. Maybe Graphene and Fluoride might be useful for serious posts someday, but they’re pretty special-interest for the size of the Fediverse right now. - It’s a lot harder to squat in the Fediverse as you can just open a community on a different instance.

- Personally, I have a pretty low bar for blocking other users here. If I find someone consistently annoying or negativistic I’m better off not seeing their posts, even if they’re not actively trolling. It’s not a public punishment or anything, they won’t be affected at all, and I get to spend less time reading content that doesn’t interest me. - I do have an account almost like that. But that one mostly blocks communities and I filter only by subscription. I don’t usually block users, though. This account has almost no communities blocked lol. - But yeah, I get where you’re coming from. That’s a good idea, tbh. Does kbin/lemmy show a user who has blocked him/her? Asking because some people may take it personally (like the one OP posted).

- Do folks get an alert when you block them?
- Lmao - gotta say it’s creative. There are trolls on my ban list that could use a multi-century sentence.
- Sorry if this is a dumb question, but how did they know you had blocked them?
- Just found out it’s possible to ban users from a sub… and that it’s possible to use a custom CSS??? Wow, OK. I should maybe spend some time on that. - Just found out it’s possible to ban users - It’s not, really. Just make a different account. The key advantage of fediverse is that you can never be banned from a group and have it stick.
