Yeah we gotta go to the moon to claim the rocks that we can turn into helium to cool the machines that run the AI that generates kiddie porn and convinces incels to kill themselves. AMERICA BABY!

    :(

My initial reaction to learning the US was going to the moon was also negative, it’s hard to be excited about anything the government is doing these days.

However after watching https://youtu.be/GX-h4We5vtw I’ve changed my mind. Hank makes a great argument that we never really got to do a lot of science on the moon, and the science we did was done with 70s tech. These missions are going to teach us a ton, and I can’t wait.

Would have been a hell of a thing if someone decided to shoot down the Artemis II with another rocket. Not that I remotely would have wanted that, but the thought occurred.

but if you would put that spacerocket money back to the healthcare, less bombs would go around

That’s a lovely thought, but I suspect the reality is that the money would just end up funding more bombs.

Nah, the Artemis project wouldn’t move the needle if put into bombs. I doubt anybody would care to take it.

The Artemis program has already cost north of $90B dollars so far. The spent something like $11B on munitions in the first week in Iran, so that’s about two months of bombing, which would definitely be worth soneone’s time to redirect. Each launch is estimated to cost around $4B, and whilst that’s only a couple of days of bombing at full rate, it’s still a non-negligable amount if you can syphon it off.

The US military is pushing for a $1.5T budget next year. It’s also asking for $200B immediately to throw at Iran.

It’s absolutely not worth it for somebody working toward any of those two to stop for any minute to get $90B over a decade from NASA.

I think you underestimate the level of petty-mindedness, vindictiveness, spite and corrupution at play currently, plus the thread was initially about redirecting the Artemis funds to healthcare, which dear leader has already said is less important that waging war.
