Hello all,

I have recently moved to pixel/graphene, and am looking to dump spotify.

On desktop I use Freetube and Nuclear which I really like, but I haven’t found a good way to sync with mobile.

On the android side I have newpipe, pipepipe, libretube, RiMusic, SpMp, SimpmMusic, InnertTune, ViMusic…

I’m a bit overwhelmed with options.

I’ve heard of cracked spotify apks but I’m not sure what the deal is with those

With that in mind please give recommendations or explain your solution. KDE connect integration is a nice plus some of these apps have but I’d be ok with using a standalone application as long as I can somehow control the music on either device.

I plan to start maintaining my library locally but I still need some kind of streaming solution.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts

    I use xManager.

Before you had to patch the app yourself. Now you can download it directly from the app.

The only I am missing is a download feature but I have some of my favorite music on my phone already and I just Spotify to stream new music or to support artist.

      Thanks, interesting

Do you create a real spotify account for it or use it logged out?

How trustworthy is this considered? I have it sandboxed but I laughed when the app sent me to a mediafire link

The group uses the cheapest available storage they can find. They used Google Drive before but their accounts kept on getting banned.

My trust of them is only due to their popularity and had minimal complaints.

Ok thanks for putting me on game. I made a throwaway and it’s working great

Are there other similar projects or forks with different features? for example it would be cool if I could take out the ads and bloat in the UI

If not I might try my hand at learning

I don’t know any other for Spotify.

For YouTube, I have used Revanced. There are alot of fake website for this, so I posted the GitHub page. Since we are talking about music, I believe it also works for YouTube Music.

I stopped using it because I started using other programs. Also, Google is becomes increasingly finicky. I should get away from Google but I still use their services. I don’t want my IP or account to get banned.

For YouTube, I am currently using FreeTube on desktop, and LibreTube on Android. For FreeTube I set it to always use an Invidious instance. Note, instances go down, and slow down all the time. YouTube changes their APIs and the app or the instance breaks. There are a lot of factors that can go wrong. It’s not for the easily annoyed.

pipepipe and rimusic is what i use. youtube in the browser is fine too, if you disable that “open in the youtube app” popup (firefox for android with ublock origin addon is what i use, although i have experienced some regressions with the ad-blocker not working after youtube updates something, but ublock is usually on top of it and fixes stuff quickly).

also, the sponsorblock addon works on mobile and there is an addon that allows videos to play in the background if you need that. i haven’t tested this with youtube music in the browser but i wouldn’t be surprised if it also worked.
