Depends on the lock being actuated and the torque of the servo, I have some that can do 4.4 N-m.

A stepper motor would also work for sure.

If you have some electronic skill you can use espHome on a esp32 microcontroller to control an RC Servo motor.

If you want out-of-box there are several electronic locks that will work.

A lot of independent mechanics will use the manufacturer scan tool and service applications or use a 3rd party scan tool/applications that is licensed through the manufacturer and still uploads the data.
It gets worse, Auto makers are now building cars with options in them that require an online subscription and disabling access for more than x time will shut off the option(Tesla, BMW, and others do this now). There is talk about putting the car in “Limp home” mode if access is cut (Car will only have 35mph max speed and limited functions, no HVAC, no Radio, etc.)
I know someone who is in engineering at one of the big Auto makers, we where discussing this issue and the person told me that even if you remove the SIM (disable cellular internet) The dealer we still upload all the data from the “black box” to the auto maker when they connect to OBD / CAN diagnostic port in your car during service. The manufacturer’s service software just does that now the tech does not even have to initiate it. Also some dealers can automatically connect using RF to your car as soon as you enter their lot, This can be by Bluetooth, WiFi, and/or the CAN bus via the keyless entry module or TPM (Tire Pressure Monitor). There was an issue a several years ago with hackers gaining access to Jeeps while on the road via RF.

If Haier is claiming that the integration is causing them financial harm it means that their app is collecting your private data and they are selling it.
I run a Unifi USG-1 router/gateway now but before that I got a used AC1000 router from the thrift store for $5 and loaded OpenWRT on that. I eventually got an Aris modem to replace the Comcrap Gateway because it was messing with the DNS traffic, even when piHole was set as DNS for every machine. So if I were you I would go look at the OpenWRT list of units that will accept their firmware. Pay attention to the hardware revision as well as the model number, it matters.

Then head over to a local thrift store or two and see if you can find any for cheep.
I think this one is a custom module, it solders into a slot on the main board vertically with pads on both sides of the modules bottom edge.

I just got a Filohome (tuya) dual switch and used tuya-cloud cutter put ESPHome on it. When setup with ESPhome it will still work even if HA is unreachable ok WiFi is down. I never even downloaded their app, made an account, or signed in.
Note for anyone trying to do the same, the Filohome triple switch device in tuya-cloudcutter will work to load the initial boot firmware but you need to change the yaml config when you install ESPHome. If anyone wants the yaml file let me know.
it’s a bank of them . . . fife third
Good idea!, thanks! that’s one of those, “Whack! I coulda’ had a V8” moments, won’t work for me here (I’m on a mobile as well).
The pop up blocks my whole screen except for a tiny part at the bottom. I guess I could read it by scrolling 1 line at a time but at that point, it’s a pay wall.

I’ll pass on reddit AND google.
