If I only read on my phone, I’d use Librera. But for syncing between my Onyx Boox device and my phone, KOReader is hard to beat.

My laptops and RPis aren’t named anything interesting. My server is named Lyla though. I let my youngest kid pick the name.
Thanks for suggesting mosh! I use termux a lot for ssh, and mosh looks like it will fix some of my biggest issues with it. Mainly losing connection when switching networks.
I got this same email. Of course the only domains I own are .com and .xyz. Going to lock in as many years as I can before September.
It’s been almost a year since I checked it out, but I had a lot of issues with jellyfin compared to plex. Mainly transcoding would never work, so streaming outside of my local network never worked well.
I already wanted a Steam Deck, but was saving up for one of the higher tiers. Then I found out how relatively easy it is to buy the cheap one and add an nvme drive. So, now my savings goal is a lot closer.
EDIT: Fixed some typos
I have the app, but haven’t really used it much. I put most things into my linkding instance and forget about it. Lol.
Maybe I should start with Omnivore first to keep from clogging up my bookmarks.
I’ve been selfhosting for almost a year, and I’m still on the lookout for anything I can host.
I’ve reached a point where if I don’t have a use for something, i’ll still try to make an unraid template if there isn’t one. Just to install it and try it out. Lol
I want that router, but I don’t have a good reason to give my wife why our RB4011 needs to be upgraded…lol
It’s written specifically for unraid, but given they are mainly python scripts, it may work on other systems.
Requires plex and the *arr stack.

You may feel like you’re doing fine now but there may be a point where things change and your capacity is reduced. This is where knowing you’re neurodivergent can be helpful
Thank you for this! My GP doesn’t think I have ADHD because I can hold down a job. He asked me at my last appointment, “So, you still want to try and get on ADHD meds?”
I didn’t know how to word that I don’t just want a diagnosis for meds. I want to know what I’m working with so I can get whatever help I need, when I need it.
Along with the crazy prices, there is the simplicity. No need to figure out what is streaming where. Just open plex/jellyfin and watch.
Extremely simple! It’s literally just a few screws and unplug the old one and put in the new. Took all of 10 minutes and at least half of that was trying to find my small screwdriver bits. Lol
My use case sounds similar to yours, so I’d second the T480. I got one 7-8 months ago, and it’s been great so far. Only thing I changed was I put in a backlit keyboard.
I don’t know any general laptop communities. At leasr not ones with any activity, but !thinkpad@lemmy.ml seems relatively active.
If you ever need to find a community, https://lemmyverse.net/communities is a decent place to start.
Yes! I’ve always noticed it here and there, but I have noticed it a lot more over the last few weeks.
Sorry my wording was ambiguous. I meant I don’t want to get rid of them. I still have an old Palm Pre and Pixi around somewhere too. And an HP Touchpad and Zune…
I’m not nostalgic for much, but I love my old underdog tech. Lol
I’ve got a Mikrotik RB4011, and I couldn’t be happier with it. It definitely has a learning curve, but once I got it setup how I want, it just works. I’m sure some other options have the same feature, but one of my favorite things is a script I have run every night that emails me a backup.
I’ve only ever had to use it a few times, but having a recent backup of my router on hand all the time is nice.
This is the exact setup I use and it works great!
Yes, I haven’t come across any apps so far that didn’t work. Performance is an issue with some apps, but nothing major.
You can already selfhost.
