Sid Meier’s Alpha Centauri, the patrician’s 4X.
It’s just so ideologically diverse and deep, and so quotable too. Plus, you can use how much you agree with Miriam as a litmus test for maturity, lol.
I did when I was in the army, and the moment I was in the clear I went back to my vice, lol. But not for any other job (I needed the army for papers!), fuck that. I don’t live in the US though so I should be good. 🙏
One can only hope that will be the trend going forward.
Often. I just say something like “okay, you might be right/you’re entirely right, my bad and thank you”. I like to ask and answer all sorts of things, this happens somewhat often, lol.
You can be educated and hardworking and be a morally reprehensible human being that will absolutely burn in Hell (Henry Kissinger, for example). No, the people need some sort of shared moral ground, something axiomatic, so they police themselves and don’t cannibalize each other. Amorality (because moral relativists don’t believe in acts being ultimately, undeniably immoral) is the problem.
A OnePlus phone and a Lenovo gaming laptop.
Those are your only “leftist” ideas? 😅 But no, if it’s still uncertain, it bears examination until it’s not anymore, one way or another, and that goes for every idea.
I bet they think they’re just “following orders” like their forefathers…
Benign? The man cannot be outside without being in constant fear!
Low quality as in ‘the visual spectacle is better in this Hollywood movie than in this other one’? Most people I know have no ear for dialogue, only eyes for explosions and titties (and soyfacing at characters from recognizable IPs) and sometimes, only sometimes, cinematography, so for the vast majority of people I’ve met the budget for CGI and cute/popular actors and actresses is directly responsible for how enjoyable the experience will be.
If not then no, not necessarily. Hollywood makes maybe 3 movies a year that don’t insult my intelligence and have at least enough depth that a serious conversation can arise from its themes. They have all the money in the world but, for me, the quality of ‘pop movies’ has steadily declined since the early 00s.
You’re not cautious, you’re paranoid and fearful to the point it’s a bit concerning for your mental health (although the suicidal ideation tells me the whole situation is more than just a bit concerning). You know this ain’t normal, you know that’s not how people are meant to live their lives, you know this cannot continue for long before you either snap at/hurt someone who didn’t mean any harm or your mind breaks.
I know living in the USA cannot help your mental stability but it’s not a favela, it really ain’t that dangerous. Maybe moving to a smaller city or a town would work? Sometimes it’s easier to change our circumstances than to change ourselves, and sometimes the former allows the letter as well.
One Irish Pub (popular chain here in France/Europe) in Avignon cause I puked all over the counter. Although I assume they’ve forgotten cause it was about 10 years ago… but I also haven’t drank in about 5 years so it’s not like I care, lol.
After they created confessions (meaning somehow the priest can ‘cleanse’ you of your sins, God won’t take you touching your niece into consideration for your judgment because you told some old dude about it and you recited 5 prayers to virgin Mary, lol) and purgatory (it used to be a binary destination, either Heaven and Hell, but the Church needed money lenders and usury to get coin for wars and whatnot and made it up to legitimise what had been seen as inmoral for ages) Christian dogma was fully cooked.
The problem starts with Paul (well, actually, with Rome and the creation of a new religion, and then the Council of Nicea. People in the West would’ve been some kind of Jewish if not, like Jesus was) and his idea of “faith without works” and “belief that God exists and Jesus submitted to Him is enough to be saved!”, which was vehemently opposed by Jesus’ actual followers that understood that faith without works is dead at best, hypocritical if not, and that even “demons believe in God, and they shudder” (sure, God exists and is always watching, but do you act like it?!). But Rome preferred/established this as canon and you can see the repercussions everywhere today, particularly in the Godless, amoral West. How could they act right, when their ideological base is so flimsy and tolerant of sin?
Who’s holding anyone back, especially in something so morally neutral as this? Why do you think the unreasonable take is the common one? And if it were, who would you ask for it to be ‘normalized’? Shouldn’t we do what we think is right and avoid what we think is wrong regardless of whether it’s popular or not? Are people just afraid of calling out idiocy? You can do it kindly. Or are they afraid of confrontation with the stupids? And it’s always something shockingly silly like ‘normalize kissing your kids goodnight’ or ‘normalize talking about trauma with your parents who traumatized you’ like who the f told you not to and why would you ever take that person seriously?!
This is not something I particularly care about but this is where I come to e-shout my old man rants, thanks for reading! 🙏
Imagine meeting your Creator and when he asks you why you cheated on/abused your wife and destroyed your family and their psyches, or why you supported ideologically and financially the death and destruction of innocents around the world, or why you spread corruption in the land for coin, among other questions and you’re just “idk 🤷”.
The ‘I was just following orders!’ folks will burn in Hell forever, and the ‘but I didn’t know!’ when they could’ve easily known is definitely there in great numbers as well…
People who say “should be normalised” haven’t fully understood what free will entails, lol.
Who would answer anything but “chop em all off”? Lol. You can singlehandedly stop world hunger, and you don’t even have to give your life for it, just your fingers? A lot of praiseworthy people have given way more for way less. It’s a small sacrifice for the betterment of the world, I wouldn’t trust any man whose immediate instinct isn’t to sacrifice their fingers…
