This is pretty much what I do with every “upper level” comment I write. It’s almost never directed at OP, it’s meant for anyone reading it.
Just a below average idiot that mostly comments for one of 3 reasons:
Catharsis, expressing exasperation over the general state of things.
Looking to make someone laugh.
Self deprecation.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Are there enough resources in the world to allow everyone (or at least the vast majority) to live comfortably and happily?
6·18 days agoI’d like to think I’d find meaning elsewhere, and maybe that’s true, but I’m skeptical. I’m almost certainly just kidding myself when I think that I would. I’d just sit at home smoking weed and watching YouTube videos.
But if that’s what you enjoyed then that is what you’d do and it would make you happy. If it didn’t make you happy you wouldn’t do it. So maybe that’s how your life after work would start, but if you became restless and stopped enjoying it you have your background in contracting and you’d probably take on some more enjoyable creative aspect of that role.
In the end your life doesn’t only have meaning if it’s defined by a job title, it’s defined by how you live it. It doesn’t even need to have “meaning” outside of your own enjoyment of life.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How did Gen X/Millennials failed at tackling the political issues they criticised in the 90's
4·19 days agoNo one said you’re not allowed to ask questions…
As for the “leftist” part, this is Lemmy, and spending enough time here you learn that liberal has a very different meaning to some people so I was just covering my bases.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How did Gen X/Millennials failed at tackling the political issues they criticised in the 90's
6·19 days agoBecause being a liberal (not the leftist definition of liberal) doesn’t mean you have no brain.
I’m assuming by your question that you’re implying it’s true, which funny enough gives some credence to the first part of the quote. Unless of course you’re a leftist, at that point we’re just quibbling over terminology.

10·19 days agoA quote tossed at me by a MAGA friend before Trump won in 2106. I stopped talking to them for a year or so because I didn’t want to say something that would actually end our friendship.
It’s such a fucking stupid, insulting quote.
Time gates. Gacha games are rife with them…
Want a piece of equipment for your character? Well spend daily currency to get one that regenerates over a day. Oops rng God hates you and you got +Def for a character that wants +Atk, better luck tomorrow/next week… Oops it’s still not your week +Hp this time.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is there any way the average American can insulate themselves from the AI bubble bursting?
9·25 days agopeople who don’t even seem to invest are the ones worrying about it. I can’t help but wonder why that is.
If I had to guess it’s probably because those people, like OP and myself, have very limited funds so losing that investment is losing “everything” and putting them back to having nothing.
Having a very inadequate income makes losing your investments tremendously impactful as you know it will take many many many years just to get close to whatever level of investment you had before. We’re counting on years of growth to make it something worthwhile, but if we get kicked back to nothing then by the time we catch back up to where we were the amount of time left to invest and grow is so much shorter.

31·25 days agoThats not good to hear lol hopefully mine holds out!
I’ve had it for almost a year now, but I’ve only used vegetable oil, only fill it half way, and I depressurize it when I’m done. Not sure if there is much of a difference between the two oils or if I just got lucky.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is a useful or interesting product under $100 that you wouldn’t normally think to buy?
28·25 days agoAn oil sprayer. I was looking for gift ideas and came across a “misto” brand oil sprayer and now I use it all the time! No more spray cans of oil and God knows what else, you just fill it half way with whatever oil you want (except coconut oil for some reason) and you pump it to pressurize the oil so you can spray whatever you want.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Americans, what do typically have for breakfast?
8·1 month agoI rarely eat breakfast, but if I feel like getting a treat on my morning break at work there’s nothing better than a toasted everything bagel with sliced onion, tomato, and cream cheese… Well, lox could make it better, but I’m not getting a $15 bagel lol
It’s sooooo damn goooood…

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What are things you know because of your personal interests that most people have no idea about ?
22·1 month agoAmethyst, citrine and tigers eye are all Quartz they just have various impurities and structural differences that create the differences in color/appearance. Some can even be irritated or heated to change their color.
The Orion nebula can be seen with binoculars depending on the lighting and the famous horse head nebula is actually located very close to it in the sky (visually from our perspective, not physically)
When you can’t have it anymore you kinda miss it. At your age I had shoulder length hair and loved it.
Now I have the Vegeta hairline and the typical bald spot on the top so I buzz my hair super super short. I hate it to be honest, but it’s better than looking pathetic holding on to what little hair I have just to have it longer lol
