Natural gas is just a more palatable word for methane, and burning methane is still putting an enormous amount of CO2 in the atmosphere. But methane by itself is like 10x worse than CO2 and the EPA estimates as much as 10% of all methane for domestic use ends up in the atmosphere. Fun!

I was thinking today how ridiculously accurate silicone valley (the show) has turned out to be. It feels like CEOs and mid level managers all watched that show and completely missed the fact that it was SATIRE.
A quick Google search will show that Zoom has a ton of encryption and spyware vulnerability concerns. I also did not say Teams was more secure, just that the already built in MFA that Microsoft is requiring helps combat that, and again…included.
I suspect that’s actually part of the problem. Zoom is being ditched for teams left and right - so many enterprise companies already have Office on all their machines on the network. Why would they continue to pay for zoom (who I believe jacked up their prices to capitalize on the COVID influx) when teams is included in their software suite and serves the exact same function, with additional functionality? Not saying teams is as good/better/worse than zoom, but it serves the same purpose. There are also concerns over zooms security, which isn’t helped by a huge inrease in cyber attacks just about everywhere - that’s also very problematic for zoom since Teams already requires MFA through authenticator to help prevent the latter.
The Zoom peak declining combined with a competitor rapidly growing means they’re losing money, and of course the only solution to that is to force employees back into the office. I mean what else could you possibly do? There’s simply no other solution to this problem. They’ve tried nothing so far and it hasn’t worked so, really theor hand has been forced.

I don’t think the commenter is saying/said Elon isn’t successful. What the commenter is saying is that Elon is successful at funding other people ideas and then taking credit for them as his own. Essentially, it would be like the producer of a small movie that becomes a huge hit taking credit for the entire movie despite having very little to do with it. Didn’t write it, didn’t direct it, didn’t cast it, didn’t market it, etc etc etc.
The flip side is along the lines of what you are saying. That movie may have gotten made without that producer, and may have been just as big a hit without them ever touching it…but we’ll never know because that producer recognized the potential and funded it and is now permanently tied to it. And, because they produced it, they made a shit load of money as well. You can’t say that producer isn’t a successful one, even if they also somehow deluded themselves into think they are the world’s best director, writer, casting director etc at the same time.

What kind of absolute horse shit is this? He is the PRINCIPAL AUTHOR on these papers. That means it’s his data. He’s not co-author, now a peer reviewer, not an advisor. It is absolutely insane that he wrote these papers and didn’t validate or review the data hundreds of times before putting it in publication. This is some golden parachute shit.
Question - is there a way to make my Plex library always available without having my desktop running non-stop? My Plex downloads live on an M2 on my desktop currently. Second question - I can only access my Plex files from my local network but most people seem to use it from anywhere. What am I doing wrong, or do you need premium for that feature?
I don’t think it’s that connection causing problems, mainly because my app works fine (mostly) and I don’t have a connection to any meta services. There are none on my phone, and I do not have a Facebook login at all. I will say that of all the apps I use, Ally is the most finicky. It seems to crash itself every 2-3 uses for no apparent reason at all.
That said, it seems unlikely that the app would fail for you in this case just because you blocked access to a service that I know it does not actually require to operate (because it has to be operating without it on my phone), and another poster tested and could not recreate. Not sure if that helps, but may point you towards diagnosing what is really causing the issue!

Everything while I’m driving. Navigation, music, phone calls/texts. I don’t ever even feel tempted to look at my phone when driving because of android auto, I can do just about everything with voice controls, and what I can’t I can navigate quickly and easily like I would the radio while I’m stopped.
Okay serious questions - will it work with my play store apps? And what about my Gmail? Can I still use it? Because I don’t have other email accounts and email is kind of important. Finally does android auto still work?
I’d love to de-google as much as possible, but some apps I unfortunately depend on day to day, mainly Niagra launched, and android auto.

Google literally sells everything you do. It’s their business model. Every time you’re signed in with Google it’s tracking what you do. Every email you receive. Everything you click on. Every item you purchase. Every review you fill out. Google sells it all, and you’d be amazed how fast they do it. Fun experiment, go buy something - jeans, a shirt, shoes, drums, and guitar, whatever from a new place you haven’t shopped before. Go buy it and have the invoice go to your Gmail account. Then get on Instagram…time how long or far you scroll before you see an ad for a similar product. Perhaps even a brand you comparison shopped.
You tell it all these things. Whether you realize you’re doing it or not, you tell it everything it wants to know just by using your phone. Google sells it, instametathreads buys it, learns more, and then sells what it learns back to Google and advertisers. Rinse, repeat.
You have probably noticed but never appreciated that men don’t usually have big hips to keep our pants up (or more specifically our waists and hips tend to be very close to the same size). YES, methane stays in the atmosphere a shorter duration as methane, but most of it naturally breaks down into CO2 which then stays in the atmosphere just as long as all the other CO2. It is much worse than CO2 as a greenhouse gas.
