  • Habits in general have nothing to do with “productive workers”. Literal children in socialist societies can care about their habits such as brushing their teeth or being to the breakfast table on time. A teen may consciously decide to install in themselves a habit of reading one chapter of a book every day. A new religious convert may work to create a habit of praying 3 times a day.

People, even children, can also decide to work to unlearn habits. The new atheist that works to stop praying 3 times a day, the dad who decides to stop the “bad habit” of smoking, the child who stops the habit of bugging their parents for a toy every time they are at the store.

So I think you need to back up and work out why you believe habits, good or bad, only relate to work as it doesn’t seem to be true.

  • Windows 10 installs are GROWING while Windows 11 are actually shrinking.

As someone whose been in the industry a long time I promise you that is not going to last. Starting in January the number of Windows 11 installations will start rising quickly while Windows 10s starts dropping off just as fast. With W10 going EoL in October anyone in a regulated industry will be forced to switch to a supported OS.

Yes I’m aware that you can hop to W10 LTSC for $30 but that is absolutely not going to change much since PC hardware from 2019/2020 is at or near EoL, both physically and from an accounting perspective, so it needs replacing anyway and that new hardware will come with Windows 11.

  • What is Bubba going to do with his Ford and his AR when a fuckin’ tank rolls down the middle of 23rd Avenue?

Where is the fuel coming from to keep that tank rolling and how is it getting there?

How about when a drone hits his buddy with three fingers and all the pipe bombs?

Where does that drone operator live? Where are the parts for that drone coming from, how are they getting there, and who is assembling them?

The US Military runs on logistics and those logistics chains are entirely dependent on civilians playing along. This is why true Civil Wars are Nation Breakers.

  • I honestly fear that our military will do something like this.

Your fear is overblown. The US Military would get chewed up and spit out by Armed American Civilians. We outnumber them by at least 50 to 1 and there would be nowhere for them to retreat too in between engagements. Their logistics would be entirely cutoff and they wouldn’t even be able to go home because their neighbors (at least some of them) would be waiting.

They could try but realistically it would be over (in most places) in like two weeks.

  • The obvious workaround is to not use outlook for personal email, but still, WTF.

You kind of have too when working with an email client that can present a unified view of email from multiple accounts. That doesn’t mean the IT folks can read the email attached to your person accounts though, neither can they delete it. All they can do is force Outlook to deconfigure itself and / or wipe your phone.

It’s the second part that’s the bigger problem. Wiping my phone could kill my personal 2FA apps, like Aegis, if I didn’t have them backed up.

  • The main problem with BLUESKY is that it’s the same regurgitated shit you find everywhere else. As a brand new user here’s the first 10 things in my feed:

    1. Someone trying and failing to make a clever joke about the US Presidential election.
    2. A picture of black hole (which is great!)
    3. Semi-clever joke involving Professor X and Alvin and the Chipmunks
    4. Self Described “transfem lesbian” screaming about how much they love women. I mean yikes it’s creepy AF.
    5. Boring US Political schlock about Lauren Boebert.
    6. Science / Astronomy content
    7. Video Game Post
    8. Self Described “#1 Gayest Lesbian” screaming about how much they love women. A copypasta of the other and still creepy AF.
    9. Another eye-roller “I am soooo depressed” meme.
    10. Boring US Political schlock defending Dr. Fauchi

So BLUESKY seems to be Twitter v2, primarily inhabited by the Pre-Elon Blue CheckMark types. Can I “fix” that with filtering? Probably but if I do then the feed will slow down so much that even checking in once per day will probably be too often.
