I think people tend to go for open source when it is a free alternative. Especially when it’s still quality. Blender is a good example of this.

I don’t think it’s morally lazy at all. People in my social circle pretty much all use Discord. And it’s not easy to convince people to switch over to a platform that no one else uses, especially when the service they are already using works perfectly fine for what they’re trying to do and is free.

It is one of the first extensions I’ll install after downloading a browser. It’s essential at this point for me.
