I hadn’t, my apologies for missing that.

Sure, I don’t disagree, it shouldn’t be a requirement but because the app is good and makes the process easy, I don’t have a problem with it.
I do agree but Steam’s app isn’t bad. It’s great if you use Steam’s social features and it makes secure login a total breeze.
This hate for 2FA is bizarre to me. Sure, it’s not as convenient but in this day and age, with all the threats out there, there’s no real excuse for not using it.
Same except I watch with Freetube 99% of the time. Never once had it happen to me.
I like Audacious but it lacks the Winamp features of later builds. Went for Strawberry instead when I migrated to FOSS.
I switched to Strawberry from a lifetime of Winamp usage purely because I wanted an open source music player, so this is amazing news!
Every company would. They’re not going to go out of business over one customer. What’s important is that they weren’t able to give any important information.
Proton Pass. If you’re comfortable with cloud E2EE managers, it’s far more worth it than Bitwarden, since you get unlimited email aliases. Better for privacy and even security. Plus, I trust Proton, they have a phenomenal track record in terms of security and encryption.
Clock You. The You suite has some great apps, I use almost all of them. Not only are they libre but they have attractive and very useful GUIs.
Best weather app I’ve used. FOSS but unlike most FOSS weather apps, it doesn’t FEEL like your typical FOSS alternative.
Not at all, it’s one of the best resources for people interested in privacy and digital freedom.
Kotatsu and Mira, both on F-Droid. Kotatsu makes it easier to read manga without a subscription and you can add your own DRM-free manga. Mira is similar but adds anime and K-drama streaming as an option as well.
Even though I am subbed to Crunchyroll, having an option to watch if I have to cancel to save money, that’s very helpful.
Brave Talk might be worth checking if you use Brave. Doesn’t require an account, people can join from any browser, optional E2EE if all parties are joining in Brave.
If you use Brave, try the built-in Brave Talk. It’s forked from Jitsi and doesn’t require any account. You can also bring people on even if they have other browsers, it’s just that the end-to-end encryption is only available if everyone is using Brave. If E2EE isn’t a concern though, it should suffice entirely.
The dumb part about that, though, is that it’s considerably easy to spin up a forum with a free forum host and you get significantly more control and customization than what Discord gives.
I find that some Matrix clients make it easy to build and interact with a community. Even Element has a lot of Discord’s core features, it just lacks the streaming and some of the gaming-related stuff. Otherwise, Matrix rooms are sufficient for building an “easy to chat” community.
Discord is only good for coordinating game events and helping to facilitate gaming community engagement. I’m so sick of everyone pushing it as the central hub of everything social and the idea of entire projects centered around Discord is absolutely ludicrous.
Cool concept but I’d genuinely rather an Invidious proxy integration (like Freetube) over SponsorBlock or bringing back dislikes.
I suppose there’s not really a crucial reason but I just like to do so when I can. More peace of mind that way.
