It’s one of those big cultural shifts that has gone on in my life slowly but steadily. I recall my school bus driver would smoke doing his rounds, people smoking almost everywhere, even grocery stores. My family had lots of smokers, 3 out of my 4 grandparents smoked, all paid the piper, the habit led to their demise. Vending machines selling cigarettes everywhere. I recall it first was restricted on airplanes, with smoking sections separated with curtains, then in restaurants. A lot of it was ineffective and mostly symbolic, but then the biggest change was when California banned almost all indoor smoking in businesses, other states followed suit over the next decade. That combined with all the legal problems the tobacco industry had in the 90s has really caused a dramatic shift.
John Dillinger had his fans too. I recall going to a wax museum in Indiana dedicated to him. There was a display with an electric chair in it.

I wonder how long it’ll last before it gets all spammy.
Facebook deleted in 2017 and Twitter months before it was bought by you know who. I don’t miss either of them. I love how Lemmy isn’t all spammy.
I play around with the paid version of chatgpt and I still don’t have any practical use for it. it’s just a toy at this point.
But I’m fat and don’t want the extra carbs.

At least 10 percent of my time sitting in a classroom in college was waiting for the prof to get the projector to work with their laptop.
The combustion product isn’t likely to be a carcinogen. Safer to use indoors.
JWs don’t go to college for that exact reason. It seriously is a way to keep people from leaving the faith. Frederick Douglass wrote about how slave owners went out of their way to keep slaves uneducated for a similar reason . He learned to read in secret and then was able to see many truths about the institution of slavery because of his education .

It won’t be needed because nobody will have a job to pay for it. I forsee kurt vonnegut’s book “Player Piano” on steroids.
Ah yes another commercial social media platform taking the first steps in the enshitification process. We’ve seen this all before in the early days of other platforms before the decay sets in.
I just hope something can be done with the empty structures. Turning them into housing is easier said than done for many buildings.
There’s only 24 hours in a day and I have plenty of things to do other than watch commercial-plagued programming on Amazon.
Pretty easy to not own a Ubisoft game. Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry series are pretty boring IMO.
It’s not a video service, it’s a pile of poo.
I found one from Rocket Fizz called barf. They also have a sweet corn soda too
