I guess I can see that, but I never said that it is cleaner. It’s the same for me. It’s not dirtier. It’s not cleaner. It’s only faster. Eating the banana sideways might look weird to other people, but there is literally no advantage for me to eat it normally.

When someone tells you that they finished a book in a really short time, the first thing you think is probably that the book is really good and they had to like it. You probably don’t think, “oh, that’s not really reading. You technically just skimmed through it, you don’t know what you even read.”

Some people read faster. Some people listen faster. It shouldn’t be that surprising.

I don’t know what to tell you. It looks like to me that you seem to think that somehow I am wasting my enjoyment of the media. Or that my consumption of the media isn’t the right one or fulfilling or something like that.

As I said before, I can understand everything. Why should I listen to or watch something in normal speed? It’s just a waste of time in my case.

When somebody can hit a target that is 300 meters away, why would you tell them to shoot at the target that is only 100 meters away? What’s the point in that for them?

I don’t know if that is a good analogy, but I don’t know how else to explain this.

When I am cooking, cleaning, etc, I listen to audiobooks. Not at those same speeds as YouTube videos. Between 1.25x and 1.8x, depends on a narrator again.

You would not believe how much time I have saved over the years by doing this. When I can finish 30m video in less than 10 minutes.

I don’t know about you, but when I come home from work, I don’t have a whole evening to just watch yt videos.

This way I can finish the videos I wanted to watch a lot sooner and then I can go and do something else.

Gradualism

At first I watched every YouTube video on 1.5x for like 6 months.

Then I watched everything on 1.8X for another 6 months. Then 2.2x and so on.

Now I watch everything between 2.8x and 3.6x, Depends on the talking speed of the person in the video. I can understand everything.

Of course I watch some videos in normal 1x speed but those are usually just like artistic videos or movie trailers and stuff like that. If there is just a person talking to the camera, there is no reason for me to watch it in normal speed.

Still can’t set the video speed above 2.25x? Otherwise it’s useless to me.

I really wanted to like bookwyrm and use it but it’s just so bare bones. Instead, I switched from goodreads to StoryGraph like two years ago. I really like some of its features like content warnings, moods, very detailed stats of my reading habits, etc.

I use Steam Chat for playing games with family and friends. It has better audio quality than discord in my opinion, and you can make groups (something like Discord servers) too. It doesn’t have all the functionality of servers, but the basic idea is there.

I am actually surprised nobody mentioned it yet Why use some third party application, when you can use the Steam’s one.

It’s not like the OP is concerned about privacy. They were using discord. They didn’t say it has to be open source.

For talking outside of gaming or away from PC, I use signal.

Ok, that doesn’t sound hard. I hope there are no more unforeseeable problems. When I create the new user in containers, should I create the same user in proxmox host and change ownership of the hdd, and all existing files in it, to it? Probably yes, right? Don’t have time today again, will try it tomorrow after work.

Thx for providing some alternative. I think I will still try to first make it work with mount points and local users. But I appreciate your post and will keep it in mind if I need to use it later.
