7·14 days agoThe Moto G Power 5g 2024 has been a great phone for me. Hard to find a phone with all the features but a headphone jack as well.

I only had to buy a VPN and a cheap mini PC as a server. And then a 1tb SSD. Then I needed to buy another 2tb. And then I had to run Ethernet upstairs for it since the WiFi card couldn’t keep up. Then I had to upgrade the router to support the new gigabit cabling…
Eh, well, at least I get to keep something out of it.

Windows Update is 100% malware by definition. Remember when Windows 7 had a free upgrade to Windows 10? It would force itself into the update queue with regular updates regardless of the user’s permission, and even after x days after the user explicitly said they didn’t want Windows 10. I worked in a computer repair shop in that time. The Windows 10 upgrade that people didn’t want or agree to often failed, breaking the machine. Sometimes we could recover the installation. Sometimes the OS had to be reinstalled. It was intentionally pushing software in deceiving ways to unconsenting users that broke their machine.
I get that too right before I fall asleep! At least when I’m sleeping in public. My brain distorts and abstracts what’s going on around me into a weird half dream. Then I fall asleep.
old.reddit.com has always loaded quickly, except their self hosted photos and videos, which is a (relatively) new thing and has never loaded fast.
