To be fair, the LiDAR was primarily used for parking. Still a stupid decision to remove it. There were plenty of values it provides…but those cars were never going to drive themselves even if they did have LiDAR.

Might I suggest you use the time machine you created to go back and talk yourself out of making the climate change reversal machine. I can think of nothing worse than for you to feel like you are stupid.
The problem with this way of thinking is that there are solutions to eliminate accidents even without eliminating self-driving cars. By dismissing the concern you are saying nothing more than it isn’t worth exploring the kinds of improvements that will save lives.
Correction - Older Teslas had lidar, Musk demanded they be removed because they cut into his profits. Not a huge difference but it does show how much of a shitbag he is.
low visibility, including sun glare, fog and airborne dust
I also see a ton of accidents when the sun is in the sky or if it is dusty out. \s
Overlooking the concept of a failsafe? How did they get past the concept of the subscription model?
so they fired them all
Even fictional evil companies need to meet goals set by the board.
Did the lady have 5 kids to feed?
Plus 1!
Could probably pull that off with meta information to determine the age of the photo.
Eliminating QA is a huge value. We all know it reduces costs relating to employing people, but that’s just the start. It eliminates the number of bugs found and reduces the amount of work that comes with it. All in all it helps projects to release on time. There could be no problem with this, clearly.
Great, neither Google search or reddit work anymore. They deserve each other.
When The Last Jedi came out I went to see it with some friends who were big Star Wars fans. I thought it was fun, they hated all of it. I said to them “I guess I am not big enough of a Star Wars fan to hate Star Wars that much.” The same is true for almost everything.
instead of using his seemingly infinite wealth to engage in any real systemic change
Do we know this? I don’t follow the comics at all but do they ever go into the things Bruce Wayne does as CEO of Wayne Enterprises? I can’t fathom we have gone decades without someone touching on this.
Remove the unnecessary outwardly facing “eyeball screens”. There, cheaper.
I can recall numerous comedy movies I went to where I was the first to laugh. Like a full “ha” before everyone else started laughing. I am unsure if I influenced others to laugh, I was more satisfied that I didn’t need another person to laugh to actually enjoy what I was seeing.
It wasn’t “just” the audience. Sweetening enhances the laughing - it doesn’t replace it.
I always thought of it this way. You see fun videos of sitcom outtakes, everyone is having fun on set. This means multiple takes. How hard would you imagine it is for an audience member, on the 15th take, to laugh? Sweetening.
You are partially correct. The pacing is a thing, for sure.
But if you do watch those videos there are plenty of non-joke pauses for laughs. I can recall one where one of the guys walks up to the others sitting in the cafeteria and says “hey guys”… pause for laughs. He wasn’t dressed funny, he wasn’t doing anything odd, just… “time to laugh, I guess”.
IMO, canned laughs are the tool of those that aren’t really that good at writing comedy.
There are dozens of us.
It isn’t a matter of which is better - you use both, and more.
