I have a strong preference for the German and Swiss types, but I think we can all agree that Japan massively fucked up. They took the already shitty American plug and just forgot about the ground.

Wero is already a thing and it’s straight forward. Even that is too complicated for many people, but it’s gaining traction at least.
Anywho, I’m rooting for both!
Ibuthyr@feddit.orgto Technology@lemmy.world•Mastercard and Visa face backlash after hundreds of adult games removed from online stores Steam and Itch.ioEnglish30·2 months agoAn alternative to PayPal, called WERO is currently in it’s rollout process in Germany, Belgium and France. In October the next step will be activated, allowing payments in e-commerce. Later down the road, you’ll be able to pay in real shops. Luxembourg and Netherlands are to join in next. More and more banks start to adopt WERO.
I urge everyone to use WERO as much as you can. It’s flying a bit under the radar at the moment and this must be a success. Hopefully more EU members will join soon.

A method of communication that instantly conveys emotions and information, which you can even use while driving a car! How about that ey?
Ibuthyr@feddit.orgto Technology@lemmy.world•‘If I switch it off, my girlfriend might think I’m cheating’: inside the rise of couples location sharingEnglish2·2 months agoIt might have to do with how much Americans must work and sit in a car every day I guess. I suppose that sort of workflow makes sense. But then I’ll definitely chalk it up to America bad. Thats not a life I’d want to live.

Fuck sharing your location, what kind of dumb shit is this? If anything, sharing your location might actually make them paranoid in the first place, as they might try to interpret things in your movement. The hell is wrong with people? I’ve never heard of this behavior, is this something Americans do?

Ibuthyr@feddit.orgto Privacy@lemmy.ml•Reddit users in the UK must now upload selfies to access NSFW subreddits1·2 months agoBut then UK instances won’t be able to federate with non-UK instances, right? Can this even be enforced?
Ibuthyr@feddit.orgto Privacy@lemmy.ml•Reddit users in the UK must now upload selfies to access NSFW subreddits3·2 months agoIs that so? Why would anyone with an instance from another country give a shit about UK law? Honest question, I have no clue about these kind of laws.
Ibuthyr@feddit.orgto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Does anyone truly think times are better now than 30 years ago? (US)4·2 months agoI think a lot of the tech is responsible for the shitty life. Tech got better until perhaps end of the naughts. After that it’s just one bullshit excuse after the other to make devices obsolete as quick as possible. Plus the complete enshittification of the internet.
I’m just glad that decentralized social media is becoming a thing and the FOSS movement is huge.
Fucking love that one. Those thumbnails almost gave me an aneurysm.
