That’s been a thing for years, though it used to be ultimaker or prusa before Bamboo.

Just like there are people who race with cars, and there are people who fix and tune cars, there are people who just want to print stuff, and others that really like tinkering with 3D Printers. Not many people around with inkjet printers as their hobby, and some people see 3d printers in the same light - just a tool that should do what they want it to, and that’s it.

And I also love the tinkering part more - be it 3d printers, rc cars, airguns, electric scooters, game console, you name it - once I’ve modified something to be exactly like I want it to be, I’m much more likely to move to another tinkering project than actually use what I’ve just built :P

LLMs have a perfect track record of doing exactly what they were designed to, take an input and create a plausible output that looks like it was written by a human. They just completely lack the part in the middle that properly understands what it gets as the input and makes sure the output is factually correct, because if it did have that then it wouldn’t be an LLM any more, it would be an AGI.
The “artificial” in AI does also stand for the meaning of “fake” - something that looks and feels like it is intelligent, but actually isn’t.

You can argue what you think the words should mean in your opinion in the field of artificial intelligence. I agree with some of them.

They already did. AGI - artificial general intelligence.

The thing is, AGI and AI are different things. Like your “LLMs aren’t real AI” thing , large language models are a type of machine learning model, and machine learning is a field of study in artificial intelligence.
LLMs are AI. Search engines are AI. Recommendation algorithms are AI. Siri, Alexa, self driving cars, Midjourney, Elevenlabs, every single video game with computer players, they are all AI. Because the term “Artificial Intelligence” by itself is extremely loose, and includes the types of narrow AI all of those are.
Which then get hit by the AI Effect, and become “just another thing computers can do now”, and therefore, “not AI”.

What ever could go wrong with that?

That’s the curse of the AI Effect.
Nothing will ever be “an actual AI” until we cross the barrier to an actual human-like general artificial intelligence like Cortana from Halo, and even then people will claim it isn’t actually intelligent.

Which is a nice change, usually every alternative starts up exactly because the worst of the worst got banned from the original and had to migrate to somewhere else, and then it’s an uphill battle for anyone else to make use of that platform.

Are there even any payment processors they can use for that? I remember it being an issue when the sanctions hit.

They are based on the comments the creator has left before instead of being a generic output from an LLM based on the message it is replying. So they are your comments, but with AI “enhancements”, instead of it just suggesting you directly copy-paste some old comment. But at the end of it obviously they are AI generated, that’s how the tech works.

Huh, apparently yeah, Ryzen processors should have it. I’m guessing it’s disabled by default then. …or my bios being from 2019 might also have something to do with it :p

Anything without a TPM 2.0 module on the motherboard. For example the Lenovo T470 from 2017 doesn’t have it. There are zero other reasons why it, and countless systems around that age and even older, couldn’t run Win 11.
And anything made before October 2014 definitely doesn’t have one, as that is when TPM 2.0 was released in the first place.

[EDIT] Also my gaming PC from 2020 doesn’t currently support Windows 11, because the Asus Prime X570-P motherboard from 2019 doesn’t have one either - it just has a header I could buy (~$20) and slot one in. Scratch that, apparently it does have fTPM support (with a newer bios?).

That’s right, all the sensors and hardware required to make safe, functioning autonomous car.

As long as Tesla keeps listening to the fundamentally flawed idea of Musk that “Humans drive using only their eyes, therefore autonomous cars don’t require anything except a camera”, they are destined to fail, as that system can’t prevent crashing into things if it doesn’t understand what it is looking at.

So Musk wants to take it to court that no accounts on X can be run by a team, only the person who made them, and they can’t be transferred.

I wonder who owns @/POTUS then, some random whitehouse intern from almost two decades ago? What about @/Tesla and @/SpaceX, has he received written permission for them :) ?

General Artificial Intelligence doesn’t exist - we don’t have HAL9000 or Terminator or Cortana yet.

But up to that point, and almost certainly even past it, the AI effect means the more sophisticated AI things become, the more people think “well </insert ai thing/> isn’t actually intelligent or an AI”.

As for the acceleration figure, I took it from this review:

The systemic reason might just simply be “They were the kind of a person that would buy a Tesla”.
If I wanted to buy a safe car to drive responsibly while respecting all the traffic rules, an EV with almost a thousand horses with a 0-60 time of 2.1-2.4 seconds wouldn’t exactly be my first choice.

The data is by “Fatal Accident Rate (Cars per Billion Vehicle Miles)”, Model Y having 10.6, Model S having 5.8. Ignoring Model 3, the average would be 8.2. Back in 2023 Tesla tweeted “Total miles driven by the Tesla fleet has exceeded 100 billion miles globally—equal to 532 round trips to the sun!”
So that math says 820 fatal accidents, Tesladeaths reports 614. I’d say the numbers seem close enough?

…how, exactly? Other than the models that fold like an old clamshell, none of the phones I’ve seen make the screen wider, they just make it square. But in either case, you would have the exact same screen size with a normal phone, it would just the half the thickness and wouldn’t have a seam down the middle. I guess if you a connoisseur of old 4:3 TV shows it could be nice.

Anything you can find on Temu you could get from Ali, and usually even a bit cheaper, Temu just adds a predatory interface and false marketing on top of it, and people who have no experience with what Chinese manufacturing actually costs think it’s miraculous.

It isn’t, I’ve been buying this same stuff for almost two decades from sites like DealExpess, BangGood, Gearbest and then just straight from AliExpress. Temu is just the first to properly break through with the advertising. Because it’s mostly just bullshit.
