Yeah those were the days. Also all those Medic effects. I can’t remember another game having PhysX displayed so prominently.

Planetside 2. That experience of actually fighting with thousands of players on the same map is something no other game can give. Otherwise it’s not really a super good game and the graphics actually got worse at some point by largely removing PhysX. Sadly the company owning it doesn’t want to put money into it and the playerbase is much smaller today than some years ago.

Must be quite high for me too since every time our internet doesn’t work I realise how little things you can do on your phone and PC that don’t rely on the internet. Even for programming you constantly need to look up things.

The Marvel universe is mainly there to create possibilities to make more money, not to tell a good story. Granted I have hardly seen any of the movies/series, but after Avengers I never saw a reason to. Marvel realised Avengers was good and now they pulled out as much stuff out of the universe to fill a seemingly endless stream of “storytelling”.

Absolutely. If this rule was a permanent rule I don’t think so many people would defend it. However from experience (reddit for example) I think many people know that US politics has the ability to claim and overrun just about every space on the “western” internet. This is not something that really creates value for many people especially those that don’t live in the US and I think this ruling is trying to prevent that.

Instead of complaining can someone who dislikes this decision please just create a community like “AskLemmyUS”, post a link here so people can find it and get on with it?

What’s wrong about it though? The freedom lies in the ability to create your own community that is not regulated by one company/organisation owning the platform. You can go to the place where you agree with the rules and you don’t have to live under the rules of someone you don’t like.

By giving people the opportunity to host their own instances and create their own communities with rules they like. This however does not mean that everything should be allowed everywhere. Actually this means that everywhere you go people make their own rules and if you dont like them, go somewhere else or create your own community.

There being totally different personalities that just don’t mix was something new to me when I started university in a different part of the country. Totally changing my social circle and meeting entirely new people was an eye opener. Growing up I thought that with a little conversation everybody could come to a single conclusion that would benefit everyone and work together. But now I know that there just are different people that want different things and there is no way to please everyone. And some even actively work against others just because they don’t like them without a valid reason.

What did you not like in all of them?

I wish they’d add lofting. That would make it more versatile than it is now. Otherwise I really like how it is made.

The addon Tree style tabs itself shouldn’t have been the problem, or was it? It’s hiding the default tabs what’s not a smooth process for me.

What are those shortcomings?

I also try to get along with a small amount of software and I also mainly stick with default configurations. It is a great feeling when setting up a new PC or a device that there is little need to install a bunch of software and mess with a lot of configurations just to get my learned workflow up and running. Therefore there also isn’t really a need to follow new software releases.

I don’t know a lot about running instances and the federation system but I think companies who operate search engines could create their own instances where they decide who to federate with and then use their instances to look for information. That shouldn’t be too difficult and they can create custom systems that suit them best. I don’t think it’s the users job to do that and until that happens the users of Lemmy should just focus on generating good content.
