This is cool. I use an app a lot like this but for my puppy. Logging is super helpful at the start of getting a puppy and trying to track bowel habits and training progress.

If you ever feel like it, a mode for tracking puppies is useful. I currently use “Doggy Time” by a developer that also makes a similar baby tracker.

Perhaps we will be to our descendents as the first tetrapods are to us.

I’m not a fan of Elon but low Earth orbit satellites by nature are meant to de-orbit. Yes they cause astronomy light pollution but cannot cause Kessler syndrome since their orbit is temporary from the start. Being so low there is atmospheric drag, which sometimes slows objects more than predicted.

Making news of this is like being shocked that infrastructure undersea cables and communication lines are falling apart and being replaced. It’s a fact of life.

Why should these things be free? The other things we get for free on the web are either supported by donations or they harvest something from you that’s valuable and sell it, that’s not free either.

The same behavior happened when sync came out. Endless complaints about an app being from on app store with the option to pay the hard working developer for their work.

Do they go on public transit complaining that see ads there too? At least when you pay for the app the ads go away forever.

If by a good chunk of change you mean free then yes. Mod tools are not paywalled in sync. I think the reasoning was that mods don’t really get paid so they decided not to add insult to injury and mod tools are free.

So I’m the kind of person who runs back ups using two synologies and is more of a GUI guy. I use mac and pcs very fluently but I’m not entirely terminal or command line literal.

Will something like this cause more problems if I’m looking to get rid of Google drive and start switching to next cloud or will this make my life easier?

For dimmers, you either need smart bulbs that do it themselves or a dimmer switch that you know is guaranteed to work with that bulb, it’s tricky. Also, LED lights that get warmer (change colour tone to a more orange colour) as they dim are far more pleasing than just dimming since they emulate what incandescent bulbs do. Sometimes if the power supply to your unit or building is choppy leds are the first to show it, so hope it’s not that.

I’m curious about what fixtures your led light bulbs were in.

Old incandescent lights worked great at high heat levels, so a typical boob light fixture that kept the heat in would be fine for an incandescent. Put an LED light in there, and it can still heat up beyond design capacity and might not get enough ventilation and age prematurely.

The only leds that failed for me were inside a fixture meant for incandescent lights. All our open bulbs or specially designed for led fixtures have been going strong for half a decade or more.

I thought FTL communication is just a fun typical science fiction understanding of quantum entanglement.

I thought we would still have to know what is going on at the probe via another means to know or decode the message sent by the entangled particles to their counterparts on Earth.

Kind of like putting two letters in two envelopes but we don’t know what colour they are, just that they will always be opposite colours. Even the person arranging them doesn’t know which colour they are. We don’t know if a red letter is sent to London or a green one is sent to LA or what colour they’ll be at all. But when we open the letter in London and see that it’s the red one we know the other one in LA is green.

So no matter where or when the person with the red letter is, they’ll always know the other person has the green one once they open the letter. But no information has been mysteriously transported across space and time, just the correlation between the two has been discovered.

I really really want to move from google workspace, google photos and google drive. I used it all to backup a 16TB archive, sharing photos with family and friends and keeping my personal files in the cloud and synched across computers. I used a Synology to backup the archive from the computer locally to the Synology and offsite to google drive. But here’s the thing, I’m a somewhat PC and Mac-savvy technical guy, but purely GUI. Is moving to Nextcloud on my synology going to be as easy as moving to google drive? I’m a little scared TBH. There are so many ways of installing next cloud and doing 3-2-1 backups and I don’t have time to handle a little error on a Synology destroying my whole workflow for days… Someone give me hope.

I posted a theory that dog owners are out and about doing things with their dogs and have less time and fewer hands free to make and post photos but I like yours better.
