Well, he caused this himself in the end, he failed to deliver on the part of secure and private messaging because default chats are insecure and secret chats are a buggy joke. If he delivered in the promise of providing a real secure and private messenger and did real effort to fight against spam, then things mind have turned out differently. Decentralization should also have been part of it.

In the end, he chose for fancy features instead.

I doubt iPhone is better, and it’s marketing instead. Or it’s a matter of time before they wanna go the data mining road. You can also get a fairphone and install a custom ROM

Lots of proprietary google crap. Much harder to run a custom ROM with decent support and apps

In my experience, google maps has the same issues in some areas,e.g. Tanger. OSM was way more reliable there. You could help fix those issues by contributing. I think it’s fun and you’ll get to know your neighborhood better

Also a big downside for me but they said because of privacy focus they don’t wanna do that. That said,I’ve been using them happily as a second provider for more than 5y

A lot of IT companies in NL hire foreigners. There’s just too little local offer. They throw with work visas as a result, because they’ve never heard about remote-first work being possible after covid. They can’t modernize their work culture because of stupid old fashioned managers and as a result NL has one of the worst housing crisis in Europe. And pay ain’t that good either in a lot of cases, taking into account how much you lose on rent.

I’m using a Slate router as an access point. It’s really awesome. They just provide a UI on top of vanilla openwrt, but you can still go to that UI via “advanced mode”. We need more of OSS routers!

Innovation my ass. Their UI has been as a disaster as ever. Major reason why I stopped paying for their crappy service years ago
