That PR is not even merged and deployed yet. When it gets released: simply ask your instance admin, I guess. (I think looking into the source code might also tell you but no idea where to search exactly)

If people dont care enough to mess with their browser settings thenselves, then they can either a. join a privacy-focused Mastodon instance whose admin will keep the “no referer” policy, or b. live with the fact that choices are being made for them. People need to take actions for themselves, we cant treat everyone like babies.
Read the article. It is a configurable thing and each mastodon server admin has to activate it in order to send a referer.
Are you talking about: “from the pov of the US”?
Because otherwise: no, obviously absolutely not.
Same, millennial here and I massively prefer card view over having to click again. Similarly I want a Mastodon interface in which links are shown as link preview cards.
I hope they coordinate on this.
We have Mastodon Migration’s “Follow Packs”: https://mastodonmigration.wordpress.com/2024/11/20/mastodon-follow-pack-directory-nov-20-2024/
Dansup is working on “starter kits” for the fediverse: https://github.com/pixelfed/apska
Now Gagron’s team is working on a similar thing.
Stefan Bohucek is imperimenting with a separate version too. We’ll end up with multiple implementations of this.
Huh? There are a looot of communities. Of course, a good number of them are dead. To get a good idea of which smaller communities are active, I’d recommend following the !trendingcommunities@feddit.nl posts. @Blaze@feddit.org did “active communities” overview threads a while ago at !newcommunities@lemmy.world too.
Beans have cats, duh.
I figured it’s Johnson because it’s always Johnson… Andrew Johnson after Lincoln and Lindon B. after JFK
Now that’s a very openly worded question. I could even answer “their logos” lol
Thanks for the goblin tools link, that site looks really helpful for breaking down big tasks into small steps!
The waiting list is still very long at this point. Probably don’t expect to get in for like 2 weeks…
Implementing mastodon.social instead of proper Mastodon, implementing no other fedi software – this scheduler has much potential/work ahead
What you see on Bluesky is a lot of people using their own domains for their handles. They are not hosting their own instances though, it’s only their identities. Their connection to the AT protocol still goes through the central Bluesky server.
Theoretically, yes. Practically, the way their model is set up, it costs a lot to host a federated server so no one is doing it.
I have no idea how this is from a legal point of view, but the fact they only give her the possibility to finish all that work within 24 hours sounds illegal
Fyi @informapirata@mastodon.uno I have crossposted the meme to !fedimemes@feddit.uk where the audience might be a bit more appreciative of seeing memes :D
Well, I don’t know how you could implement that from a website that would enable people to choose? Not sure that is technically possible.
And of course if you simply telll your browser not to send referer info in headers you won’t.
