I’ve organised to have my body donated to a medical school for dissection. It was quite complicated, lots of forms to be filled in and witnessed. My executor has to phone the university when I die & they send a van to collect me. They won’t accept my body if I’ve died of something communicable, or it was eg some accident that left me too mangled. When they’re done with me I’ll be cremated and my name goes up on a plaque in a special garden.

If you have your phone with you, try and get a photo of him. It sucks that you had to cut short your workout. It may be that what you experienced as “staring”, he thought of as “looking” - men can be oblivious to how they are perceived - but that’s no excuse.

I remember this one guy telling a bunch of us how he’d “helped” a woman late one night, by walking behind her on a deserted street, “to see that no harm came to her”. Boy did we lay into him. In the end he understood that a) he had actually stalked this poor woman and b) next time he should cross the road so she had one less thing to worry about. What a dipshit.

Throw yourself into sport is my advice. NZ is a sporty country, your school will have plenty on offer I’m sure. Maybe pick one you don’t know, eg cricket, and push yourself to learn it. Wear yourself out every day training and playing, competing. Friendships will follow.

Exactly my feelings. Yes, you can quickly blitz veges in a microwave, but it’s just as easy to pop in a plastic pack of lasagne. And from-scratch meals taste so much better.

Yes, Kindle does now support epub. Annoyingly, it no longer supports mobi. I mean, I can still read all the mobi files on my ancient Kindle Keyboard and on the Kindle phone app, but any new book files have to be in epub format. I have a massive amount of mobi files, now have to convert them with Caliber if I want to add them to my Kindle.

I mostly use the ReadEra app on my phone, it does pretty much everything. My favourite feature is that you can control screen brightness by touch while reading, without ferreting around in settings.

I use WhatsApp on my computer, in a web browser, but you do have to activate it from your phone via a q code.

Orbital, by Samantha Harvey. It’s just won the Booker prize so I thought I’d check it out. It’s set on the space station, and is basically the astronauts on board thinking. I can’t believe how beautiful it is, how gripping.
