Same! I ordered one is the previews, but will definitely get others if they add those
Same or even if it makes sense (which honestly I think it absolutely does) at least have an option maybe after the preview edition to have one with a better speaker built in for more cost or something. Keep one as is if you only need the voice assistant, but one one be $20-40 more or something if you plan on using it for music too
Tagging in on this too, I’m wondering what speaker people are combining this with for music streaming. I’ve heard on the early reviews that the speaker is fine for assisting, but not great for music
Ah nice, good find. I tried a few things and those didn’t work. Though to note, the option I found to work changes apps other than the default system apps too
Right, for the color, I have a neon background and the icons stay black and white. There’s no option to manually change them as far as I know. I tried changing them before I commented the first time. There might be a way to force it somehow, but that’s outside of my interest level lol
-I haven’t found a way to change the default app icons, but it doesn’t bother me that much with all the other apps I end up having.
-the camera app is plenty good for general use. I don’t use it for social media or anything, I use mine for work for taking pics of machinery and I use it to take pics of my kids and stuff and it’s plenty good for that. I can’t say how much tinkering it let’s you do, someone else will have to give more detail
-Battery life is plenty good for me. I have a pixel 6, and I go to bed with it at like 45-60% most days. I’m sure the newer phones are a bit better, but can’t say for sure
-I wish I could give more detail on the sandboxed apps, I use a few apps that use google play services and they work well, bit idk how it works behind the scenes
-honestly it just works like your phones OS should, it’s really quite good
I got a 6 a few months ago and it’s solid. I only got it as a test but ended up using it full time. I do wish j had gotten a newer one only to future proof more
Getting a used/refurbished one doesn’t really give them anything, and actually prevents them from getting data on the next person who would have gotten the used phone and used the stock OS
Honestly I assume all his social media is run by some social media manager. That’s probably because I can’t imagine being that active myself, but who knows
Well that was anticlimactic, but I appreciate the information
I’m probably missing something, but what are the two bumps in December and Feb from?
Against some better judgement, I did direct burial. I did consider walkie talkies, but heard doesn’t work well in a metal barn (I confirmed I basically have zero cell reception). I could look at adding the antenna though, thats not a bad idea.
I appreciate the info and the offer! I won’t be messing with the Ethernet since that’s used for networking. I was mainly looking to hook up an IP phone or something easy, but assumed I couldn’t just connect that to my network and needed something so the two phones would tie together.
That’s fair, and yeah in hindsight would have been great, though tough to retrofit. Maybe I’ll look into running another line for something like that. Thanks!
Well in my scenario, both locations would be fixed, so I’m not really concerned about finding locations.
Oh I’m sure I’m overcomplicating it. We had some landline phones growing up that could also ping and “intercom” but those were all connected to phone jacks with an active phone service, ao I figured I couldn’t really do that. How is some like the one you mentioned wired? How does it talk to the the other one? Forgive my ignorance.
And to note, I definitely do not need high quality, just something local that is functional.
I could I guess? What would that look like? Just mic and speakers wired over Ethernet and just always on but with a hardware switch or something? Or connected to something like a Raspberry pi running some software to talk with the other pi?
That looks pretty good. Looks like a lot of information to parse through, reading up now, thanks!
Right, and speech free from criticism obviously
