  • I can vouch for the segregated aspects of the south East. As someone who lives in the north east, I went vacationing to Florida for 2 months back in August, and the entire mentality between anyone who was not white was a drastic whiplash compared to the minor instances that are seen in the north.

unfortunately the ideology is so ingrained into normal living culture, that when I confronted my family who I saw doing it as well they didn’t even realize they were doing it and in most cases couldn’t seperate capability from the color of the person’s skin. It’s just something that they did. Not right but when everyone around you has the same ideology you tend to get blinded by it.

Being said it’s not like it used to be, it’s not like it’s actually written down like it used to be with color/white bathrooms and such, but that doesn’t stop psychological discrimination and prejudice.

I even got gawked at for talking to a groundskeeper when I was going for a walk, it was so unreal.

  • YouTube says the policy will combat “egregious” clickbait that misleads viewers, with a particular focus on videos related to “breaking news” or “current events.” The company’s examples of egregious clickbait include a video with the title “the president resigned!” that doesn’t actually address a resignation or a “top political news” thumbnail attached to a video with no news content.

sounds like anything that says it’s one thing but does a whole different thing

Sadly it’s only in India atm, and doesn’t result in a strike(yet) so I doubt many are going to care.

  • Yeah but the thing is California law makes it pretty simple. It must be around as easy to cancel as it is to subscribe

If you’re able to subscribe to Nitro by clicking a button in your hot bar you must be able to cancel Nitro via a similar method. It’s one of the main reasons that Sirius XM allows canceling via a button if you have your residence set as California

With Discord Nitro they have pop-ups everywhere advertising you to try to get you to subscribe and all it takes is clicking the pop up and then hitting subscribe (if you already have a payment method saved), if you’re looking to unsubscribe you have to going to your settings find your Discord Nitro subscription hit the cancel button find the cancel button on there please don’t go button find the cancel button on the discount page that they give you to try to convince you not to go and then confirm it with an are you sure (unless they removed that one). It’s not a very streamlined process

  • I’m struggling to understand how a company as big as Netflix is paying for a cloud service. Like for the cost that they’re charging customers monthly on top of how big they are, I really figured they would be running their own infrastructure at this point it seems like a needless money Leach to not be. Like sure you have to pay for the infrastructure and maintaining the infrastructure, but there is no way that on the scale that Netflix is and with how data transfer heavy it is, that it’s more cost-effective to be running a cloud stack.

  • My opinion on this, it fully depends.

I fully agree that people should be empathetic to people with kids because there are events that are outside of their control. This being said I don’t think they should be sympathetic to it. At the end of the day it isn’t that person’s problem that someone else has a kid, so therefore they shouldn’t be affected by it. Being said the world isn’t a perfect place and if you straight out don’t show any sympathy period you’re going to make enemies Having a kid should not be a get out of jail free card for any type of commitment, no if ands or buts.

Since you mentioned the professional World I’ll keep it more leaning towards that, a worker with a kid should not be getting preferable treatment to someone without a kid unless it is something that is directly out of that person’s control. A kid being sick is one thing, leaving early due to a doctor’s appointment is a whole different thing. They make sick days and they make vacation days for that, if the company is willing to work around your appointments that’s great, but that should be a treatment that they are given to everyone regardless of if you have a kid or not.

As for the lunch example that you gave, without getting too far off topic I firmly believe that that shouldn’t be happening. Regardless of if you have a kid or not. Depending on your contract you’re entitled to a lunch, and in most companies that lunch is unpaid. If I’m not being paid my company is not going to dictate what I’m doing. Lunch period Is very often the period that I use to be able to do the things like what you mentioned such as going to the store or going to the bank, that’s none of my employers buisness what I’m doing during that time.

in the professional World shit happens, managers will give preferable treatment to people they like and to the more efficient workers. Some managers also struggle to see the difference between empathy and sympathy and go a little too far in worker preference, this doesn’t mean that it’s right. This is a human trait, it’s against our nature to go against it. However as cold-hearted as it sounds employees life outside of the job should not be a problem of the employer. I’m not saying they should be the first one on The Chopping block, but I am saying that if that worker is less efficient, or ends up working less than higher other workers, the fact that they have a kid at home should not be taken into account.

Please note that this post is not including if your country has laws prohibiting certain actions. Such as in the US FMLA states that once the worker has been with the company for a year they can be entitled to up to 6 months of job protected unpaid leave as long as it’s being used by one of their eligible statuses, and one of these is if I remember my paperwork is caretaking of a dependant or immediate family

  • Changes it to a more friendlier term, it saying copy without tracking is acknowledging that the site is using tracking data, where would the new terminology if you don’t know what those parameters are then you just think it’s a shorter link.

Neither changes the fact that it’s happening in the first place, but one is directly addressing the elephant in the room where one is hiding under the rug

That being said reading that link, I do agree with some of the complaints that they have, but I still think it should have remained the same because that’s exactly what the system does. It best attempts to remove tracking information from the URI
