I did read all of that btw, I was just commenting on the parts of the discussion where you were talking about the definition of censorship and comparing it to freedom of speech suppression. There are different levels, some more acceptable than others.

In a federated social media you can literally either find a group instance with a similar mindset as you that will let you post whatever it is you feel is being censored, or you can set up your own instance and be totally free to post it. That post and/or your instance might get blocked by others, but you have full freedom to put it there to be blocked. If you think people have to read what you say without the option to not read more, then that’s a different thing altogether and you might rethink your points. It’s a form of “if everyone is an asshole…”

Alignment is short for goal alignment. Some would argue that alignment suggests a need for intelligence or awareness and so LLMs can’t have this problem, but a simple program that seems to be doing what you want it to do as it runs but then does something totally different in the end is also misaligned. Such a program is also much easier to test and debug than AI neural nets.

For LLMs specifically, or do you mean that goal alignment is some made up idea? I disagree on either, but if you infer there is no such thing as miscommunication or hiding true intentions, that’s a whole other discussion.

And $10 million isn’t really that much, it’s still at the level where you have to budget income and expenses and money is tangible. The 1% of the 1% are the ones who are past that and leverage power with their worth, it’s no longer about whether or not they can afford anything.

Just don’t talk to any police that may call or show up. Because even suggesting that you’re angry at them is enough to give them protection.

This is the best approach, only you tell enough of the truth to be plausible to anyone. Basically that you suddenly don’t feel like yourself, can’t recall much of your memory of who you are, and something’s not right. Take it from there. If you’re someone with much influence or power you have people around you that will help maintain your image while working through a transition to a different you.

I’ve had two wireless solar cameras for a few years now, and a doorbell one for a year. The main reason I picked Reolink was because it wasn’t tied to a cloud or account, it’s just on the local network for me to use as I want. Pros are that they are still working, both cameras and solar panels. It doesn’t take much to keep them charged up. They can’t compare to a wired higher resolution, but I wasn’t going to try and do all that for just monitoring an area. I did end up getting a repeater for the network as sometimes the connection would be bad or drop since they are near the edge of the network router range, and that seemed to help. The doorbell is much more reliable and fast, being wired.

Cons - they’re wireless, so there is lag both in logging on and in framerate. I moved one of them from one place to another and had to find a spot for the solar, discovering that during fall when the sun dropped but before the leaves fall there was a shadow, so I had to maintain the charge manually for a few week, which wasn’t a big deal with a battery bank. Only other complaint might be that the detection software isn’t perfect, especially for animals. We’ve set up a Blink camera (previously used inside a birdhouse) to watch some stray cats that the one Reolink kept totally missing even though it’s right in view.

But overall I think they’re quality, and I imagine based on the doorbell one that the higher end wired ones are probably pretty good.

The parallel is with not having great choices against him, as well as an established GOP who could pull the votes when they need them. Outside of that, the problems and crimes, and the level of insanity were different.

What about Reagan? Same parallel of weak opposition, for a much longer time since Bush followed, and Clinton was more centrist. Perhaps that’s a start of the movement to the center.
