Short guide.5·2 months agokbin has been discontinued but there is a fork called mbin, piefed and loops are missing and some very small projects, also bridgyfed isn’t there but it’s still a pretty good overview

Don’t know if there is something LinkedIn like though
RmDebArc_5@sh.itjust.worksto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Is CruchyRoll still the 'best' paid anime streaming service to use in the U.S.?28·2 months agoAFAIK they bought their only real competition (funimation). Regarding recommendations: I personally find piracy streaming sites have the best recommendations, I mostly use them just for recommendations and don’t even watch there, also you could take a look at !anime@ani.social, specifically the recommendation threads
Email client or provider? For client I’d go with thunderbird for provider mailbox.org or Tuta, or maybe proton (but mainly the first two).
As the other comment mentioned, this isn’t the community, I’d check out !privacy@lemmy.dbzer0.com (asklemmy also may not be the right community, it’s explicitly not a support community)
RmDebArc_5@sh.itjust.worksto Technology@lemmy.world•Proton will no longer post on MastodonEnglish7·2 months agoI think the main problem is they don’t want to maintain multiple accounts
I pictured that last sentence as a three star Amazon review and for some reason I found that insanely funny
AFAIK it used to exist but was removed to avoid recreating stuff like karma farming and minimum karma limits. But it would be pretty easy to make a bash script that manually calculates the karma score

RmDebArc_5@sh.itjust.worksto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What explains "the Left's" rightward shift on copyright?9·3 months agoI believe “the Left” doesn’t really have that much of a problem with copyright, it’s just that the current implementation is absurd regarding length and because of the way stuff like the DMCA and the general society is structured, it is very much rules for thee but not for me with the companies. Copyright (in its current form) mainly protects the revenue of companies while imposing large restrictions on the consumer and by an extent derivative works. However with AI, not only are the models trained and content to which large corporations have control over but also stuff like blogs, copy left code, indie books etc, so this would be one of the cases where copyright could (and should IMO) protect the authors, but realistically this will be a fight entirely between the big players, be it copyright holders or AI companies, that have the funds to fight the legal battles. I think that this has shown a lot of people that, at least in a capitalist society, there should be some form of copyright, but definitely in a reformed way that actually protects creators instead of corporations and doesn’t last indefinitely. Copyright is also very much a problem for left leaning ideology under capitalism ideally there would be no copyright but creators would still get paid, which isn’t really compatible with capitalism.

As soon as the government tries to fuck with Wikipedia they are 100% assholes and anyone who is not also an asshole should not support/vote for them.

RmDebArc_5@sh.itjust.worksto Technology@lemmy.world•Developer creates endless Wikipedia feed to fight algorithm addictionEnglish91·3 months agoApparently not:
“I have had plenty of people message me and even make issues on my GitHub asking for some insane crazy WikiTok algorithm,” Gemal told Ars. “And I had to put my foot down and say something along the lines that we’re already ruled by ruthless, opaque algorithms in our everyday life; why can’t we just have one little corner in the world without them?”
IIRC it uses BitTorrent (like Peertube), so your IP address will be shared

I’d like to know if this is just a firmware update or unfixable, but sadly this seems just an ad rather than news
