computers are like a decade old
I feel called out lol! To be fair, I’ve wanted to upgrade for quite awhile, but most of my spare money has been going to vet bills for stray cats, which is a little more important to me than upgrading my pc.

Jay@lemmy.cato Today I Learned@lemmy.world•TIL the term 'blockbuster' came from a time when blocks of ice in front of a fan were used to cool movie audiences. A large audience required more cooling thus "busting" the block of ice.English35·1 month agoSeveral theories have been put forward for the origin of the term in a film context. One explanation pertains to the practice of “block booking” whereby a studio would sell a package of films to theaters, rather than permitting them to select which films they wanted to exhibit. However, this practice was outlawed in 1948 before the term became common parlance; while pre-1948 high-grossing big-budget spectacles may be retroactively labelled “blockbusters,” this is not how they were known at the time. Another explanation is that trade publications would often advertise the popularity of a film by including illustrations showing long queues often extending around the block, but in reality the term was never used in this way. The term was actually first coined by publicists who drew on readers’ familiarity with the blockbuster bombs, drawing an analogy with the bomb’s huge impact. The trade press subsequently appropriated the term as short-hand for a film’s commercial potential
Pretty much the same for me except I use a pc to run the tv, with a wireless keyboard and mouse.
You already found the answer but I was going to comment that the pic was a joke… a train wouldn’t even notice those things on the track.
They do have derailers that are designed to specifically pop a train off the tracks though. They are made of steel and are usually put on the end of secondary lines just before they meet a normal line. In the event that if a train car rolls away it ensures that it can’t roll into an active line and cause an accident but will instead get derailed and popped off the tracks.

It's just that I can't distinguish between memories and daydreams.English5·2 months agoAlong the same lines, A lot of times I’ll think of saying/doing something but then end up second guessing myself so much that I have to look it up just to confirm I’m not wrong. The ones at the top are just there to steal everything that isn’t nailed down, the rest are so full of disinformation and bullshit that they couldn’t tell you the time of day without Fox news telling them first.
Worst part is many of them would rather go down with the ship than admit that they got fucked by a whiny man in orange makeup wearing a diaper.

Ok well, I’m never swimming again.
Did the led strip die, or did the power supply just crap out? It’s a pretty simple fix if it’s just the power supply that failed.
I have several lights I use in my room. I have a led strip behind my tv, one led bulb that stays on pretty much 24/7 in the corner, and two overhead “main” lights for when I need to really light things up.

I have one I took out of an old 55" projection tv. I think charcoal firestarters by a tire works better and can be “deployed” in seconds, but concentrated light is still pretty cool. This vid shows how well they can work.
That jingle does suck butt.
