If you tell people now that Democracy is dead, they don’t bother fighting the real fight, if and when push comes to shove.
Dems said this election is the end of Democracy, but still put an uninspiring right candidate. They said Trump is the fascist danger to all the US stands for. But having him and his crownies dismantled by getting criminal charges on them seemed to go too far. When grassroots movements came up and demanded change instead of embracing them, taking them seriously and talking with them properly, they were shunned and pushed down.
Now the greatest danger to corporate America are people to start organizing and taking to the streets. So hammer down the defeatist message, so the people suck up to their corporate overlords. The corporate overlords who won yet another election as both candidates represented their class interests.
Most lemmy.ml users and communities are perfectly fine. I didnt notice a higher number of problematic users from ml than from other instances mine is federated to. I think hexbear and lemmygrad and a bunch of nazi instances are defederated.
But not if the pressure is mostly coming from the external. Or worse if we look at Egypt, where now an even worse dictator than Mubarak rules, after the Egyptians have elected people the West didn’t like, and getting couped quickly.
They already won culturally, as they managed to shift the political culture closer towards theirs. They also managed to set issues that are “theirs”. We see the same shit in Europe, were supposedly progressive parties are implementing the wildest dreams of racist anti-immigration, anti-refugee, anti-science and authoritarian surveillance state policies that the fascists dreamed off. All in the name of “stopping” them, while neglecting actually relevant issues like social services and infrastructure investments. Rinse and repeat and by the time the fascists take over all they have to do is remove the remaining formalities of division of power and democracy.
Does repeating commands count or do they have to be entered manually?
For Boeing it is absolutely known to be malice. They don’t “fail” to hold the engineers accountable. They push out the engineers that want to follow safety protocols and it is well documented.
While often better than in the US, you shouldn’t overestimate the state of democracy in other countries.
A lot of the far right parties in Europe are successfully copying the polarization tactics from the US.
So will the return of the flag conclude the adventures of ressource usage in computers?
When i read extravagant trips, i expected to go to some Carribean Islands, or hiking in Nepal or something like that. Going to some Plastic corporate identity hellhole does not seem extravagant to me, although it is probably much more expensive in terms of Costs/Experience.
Not sure if it is fascist. It is certainly neoliberal propaganda https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YnwBXQ9OXwA
I mean i am fully in support of PC gaming and in particular Linux gaming. It is just not as easy to keep upgrading PCs component by component. Eventually there is limits, mostly from the mainboards limits.
Within limits though. E.g. If your mainboard only supports old CPUs that is a huge limiting factor and we saw MS messing with older CPUs just not being supported at all by Win 11.
Now i made the switch to Linux myself too and i am very happy, but for people who want to start somewhere, maybe starting with their own linux gaming PC is a bit much for the start.
The library is legally allowed to hand out the books. However they are not allowed to replicate them and you are not allowed to borrow them with the goal to scan and copy it.
I dont know the exact model, but i think it is marketed B2B specifically. It advertises its “wolf security” on boot, which according to HP “offers hardware-enforced security layers, from motherboard to cloud, to prevent and contain malware, phishing, ransomware, and remote access attacks. It also provides solutions for patching, privileged access, remote management, incident recovery, and print security.”
So it is something that allows HP access on the BIOS level.
