It’s very hard to find non-electric trains in India. In my >23 years spent there, the only time I encountered those were in the hill regions. And this map does align with that i.e. places with high altitude railway tracks seem to have a lower percentage of electrification in general.

It’s actually a pretty rare sight. The pictures you see online are mostly historical, and sometimes Bangladeshi. (I have nothing against them. In fact, I speak Bangla as my first language and can relate to them more than I do to north and south Indians. But they do still have that issue to some degree.)

I’m currently running two 4tb HDDs in a DAS attached to a Lenovo Thinkcentre tiny. It’s more than enough for my usecase. (I don’t run Immich, but do run PhotoPrism, which is similar in terms of resource usage.) The DAS is attached to the Thinkcentre by USB 3.0 (you can do eSATA but I’m currently happy with this setup.) The HDDs are in a mirrored VDEV which is part of a ZFS pool. It’s running in on Alma Linux with zfsonlinux.

That’s why drunk poker is so much fun lol. (Note: Don’t bet too much money. And only play with friends, if possible.)

I think Sonarr uses qBittorrent’s (or other supported torrent client) API for checking the progress, instead of periodic scans. Everything else is solid.

The most powerful app I’ve ever used for this is 1DM+ (there’s a free version as well). It won’t let you download YouTube videos due to Play Store rules, but everything else pretty much works. I’ve never managed to match its versatility or speed for downloading videos from sites with anything else. (I’d love to replicate it on my Linux machine, if I could.)

To me, Immich seems to be going too fast for now. Hopefully the development will slow down as it matures, and I might give it a try then. But I’m very happy with PhotoPrism anyway, and don’t really have a good reason to switch.

The best way would be to use a VPS to proxy your traffic to you. You can achieve this for pretty cheap, just set up an wireguard tunnel to a cheap VPS. That’s exactly how I access all my services from outside my home. As long as the VPS has a publicly accessible IP (most of them do), you being behind CGNAT should not be an issue.

You can already do it. I have Signal create daily backups, sync it to my NAS using Syncthing with versioning enabled.

Yes, it just does what cp does. Only difference is that it makes hardlinks instead of copies. Unless you’re using a COW filesystem, this might be better for most situations.
