What’s the loudest air horn one can legally purchase?
I hear we produce a lot of bullets compared to the number of MBA’s out there
Is there value in needlessly complicating things? Not that what you’re doing is only adding complexity, it’s also just worse than real medicine, but even if that’s all it achieved - why?
It is extremely common, if one distrusts “modern medicine”, to use that same logic to distrust vaccines, ya know, a subset of modern medicine. Plenty of anti vax parents out there trying to treat braighleigh’s measles with pine nettles and “essential oils” - y’all are using the same lapse of logic, you’re gonna get lumped together.
Herbal medicine is not modern medicine’s “equal”, it is not condescending to refer to it as inferior. It is unbelievably frustrating to see individuals act as though their limited knowledge of plants and complete lack of knowledge of pharmaceuticals gives them any leg to stand on compared to a qualified medical professional.
some herbal medicine works - it’s the stuff we made into modern medicine after decades of research. There is a distinct difference between “chew on this bark, it contains aspirin” and “don’t vax your kids, just rub these leaves on them”, and nobody’s really condescending to the first type.
That argument works for like, Pringles, not something you generally are legally required to have. If they’re required to spend money on advertising just to remain competitive, that sounds like you could severely restrict all insurance company’s ability to spend on advertising and save everyone money.
Microsoft: your computer, my choice
The main difference between a prime minister and a president is the fact that they’re appointed, not elected, no? Little difference when you consider the state of national primaries in the states, but still.
How often does a solution need “new” code and not “basically the same code as a previous issue but with two small details changed”? This is a genuine question, I have only ever coded as a hobby. But 25% of your work being essentially just copy pasted sounds plausible, and that’s sorta all LLMs are doing, right?
Realistic as in “this is a believable real person” not “this is exactly what everyone looks like”
muh libs aren’t left leaning
And you expect me to take anything you say after that seriously
They… don’t though? Unless you’re pretending saying “voting for [not the democratic candidate] is a vote for Trump” is now apparently right wing and not just a basic understanding of how first past the post works.
Like, your definition is both wrong in terms of what right wing means, and not even descriptive of either. They’re just not tankie shitholes so I guess that makes them look bad to you?
Neither .world nor .shitjustworks are “right leaning” they just hate the tankies most vocally lmao. Neither would it make too much sense to call a tankie “left” leaning given their raging hard on for authoritarianism. I also think most of Blahaj would be offended by being lumped in with them.
Where do you draw the line? I don’t even live somewhere where it would be reasonable to expect a major disaster, yet I’ve got some water and non perishables set aside “just in case” alongside a crank powered radio and that sort of stuff. It wasn’t that big of an investment, but if there’s some mega blizzard or whatever I’ll be much better off.
The point isn’t that we’ll never get there. The point is we sure as shit aren’t there yet.
The west
Are authoritarian regimes somehow supposed to be more opposed to using children to promote heightened surveillance?
I can’t exactly say I love the fact that we nuked Japan, but the diameter of the Fat man was about a mile, and google tells me Peleliu is about 20 square miles in size. Would waiting, and glassing an entire island have been a better choice? Loss of native life would still be awful, but magnitudes less than the real bombings.
Private companies can be dicks. Public companies can and will be sued by their shareholders if they aren’t big enough dicks.
Cooking a food in a sealed plastic bag is referred to as “Sous Vide”, and was invented in 1974 by the french. It can also be performed in a glass jar, so we definitely could remove the plastic from the equation, but there are “food safe plastics” which have been demonstrated to have no known health issues when used for this purpose.
Some plastics, like BPA or PVC, are dangerous to consume/do easily leach into food/water, but “plastic” is a very broad term that refers to a lot of different materials.
Note: microplastics are a whole different story, and we’re not really sure how bad they are for you. It is perfectly reasonable to ask the question, but society at large has essentially decided the convenience outweighs the risk, and good luck trying to avoid it in your food.
