I started using it about 8-9 years ago at this point, back when the options were FB messenger or whatsapp. Both were trash and limited in comparison.

I only use signal for work but I find the app clunky and unintuitive. Telegram, being a somewhat privacy nightmare, but not connected to a big data broker company, also gives me the ability to search through a decade of messages to find an old joke, a picture shared, etc.

Telegram is simple enough that I can tell my aging gen x parents and apathetic zoomer siblings to install it and there’s nearly zero friction to them logging in and receiving messages. It solved the problem of being added to a new fucked up imessage groupchat every other week as an android user.

It’s not great if security is your main goal for organizing, but it has a better user experience than most chat apps. Especially if cross platform chatting is important to you.

I thought blocking nsfw posts on mobile was bad enough until I tried viewing a totally SFW subreddit that was small enough to not be “verified”. Straight up didn’t let me view a subreddit that wasn’t essentially approved without logging in or using the app.

Idk how it works in china, is the wire coming from the wall a thin sorta stiff wire? or is it a thicker wire(5-10mm across) that is bendy?

If the latter, you can just plug that ethernet cable into your own router.

If its a fiber cable then I dont know if you can have your own ONT.

Is your service fiber? Is your router a combined ONT and router? If its not and you have an ONT serving ethernet to the router, you can just plug your own router in.

You said it’s through china mobile so is it a cell modem/router?

I do think that the highway emphasis is important, as you’re typically traveling faster and you don’t want to take your eyes off the road more than you have to. Having the bright yellow highway for things like complex offramps has been helpful to me in the past. I’ll just have to see how it goes.

Why would you change the roads to grey from yellow? What? What is the primary thing your eye is seeking when using a GPS app?

Seriously, I’m under thirty and already I feel old due to how much rapid change I’ve seen in my lifetime.

On the flip side, there’s a lot of old stuff that is still super serviceable and useful and even nice. Like maybe we should go back in certain ways, and move forward in others.

Modern life as we know it is relatively recent. Maybe 150 years MAX. Sure things have always had a tinge of bad, but take things in context.

We’re in an age where our grandparents or great grandparents, people we had exposure to and spoke to, experienced the start of monumental technological advancement in a relatively short period of time. Cars, planes, phones, movies, photos. Consider how much of your life is centered around these advancements.

We live in an extremely different and short lived period of humanity, where people we end up putting in charge of important societal tasks speak as if things like the economy are laws of nature, despite existing in its current form for maybe 2-3 generations at most.

This poster is experiencing the culmination of these advancements. The alienation, the over stimulation, the speed at which life takes place. It’s starting to show itself as a bit of a dead end as the ice caps melt away.

I’ve acquired far too much furniture I’d like to keep in my current apartment and I’m terrified of having to move. I’m terrified to hire movers which will trash everything, terrified of the stress of loading my own truck and dealing with the post move out nonsense. I moved like 9 times in a 5 year span during college and it never got easier. I hate it more every time.

No one wants to buy the furniture in a timely manner, you cant buy anything cheaper to replace it.

Real wood furniture is heavy, hard to sell, and expensive to buy. It requires a guarantee of long term housing or a disregard for the long term nature of the furniture.

Ikea is(somewhat) cheap, functional, can be broken down and moved in a car, and when your lease is up, so is your particleboard coffee table.
