Vanilla_PuddinFudge@infosec.pubto Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Lemmy feels less anonymous than Reddit, because there are less users and its easier to be remembered. Similar to a small town where everyone knows each other.English111·22 hours agoI mean, sure, if we’re pretending you can’t abandon accounts at will and make new ones elsewhere in the lemmy…verse.
The whole idea of “who” is kinda pointless.
Maybe I am the real Vanilla Puddinfudge. Maybe I’m not. What would it mean either way?

RedLetterMedia ain’t getting ad revenue. They curse too much and Mike is an alcoholic.
but to put it plainly, I’m morally bankrupt on victimless crime and I know they’re taken care of.
again, thank you.

With your endearing support, Google is paying less attention to us so we can continue getting the same content for free.
Vanilla_PuddinFudge@infosec.pubto Technology@lemmy.world•Netflix will show generative AI ads midway through streams in 2026English32·4 days agoThe normies can’t do this argument never sat well with me when it comes to tech, as if their ignorance somehow diminishes the software or process for everyone else.
I also appreciate them. If more people pirated, we might have a tighter crackdown from world governments over it, luckily the streaming services get enough pleb bux to keep the peace.
Vanilla_PuddinFudge@infosec.pubto Technology@lemmy.world•Netflix will show generative AI ads midway through streams in 2026English11·4 days agoNah, my cousins are normies. Every time I’m at their place and the TV is on, you almost can’t tell if the ads get more play than the content they actually wanted to see. Their TV is treated like an old FM radio where ads are just a part of it. They complain, but they’ll never actually do anything about it.

They would, I suppose, were my Jellyfin available to anyone living outside of my own state via geoblocking. You can’t even connect to it from the country I host the proxy from, not that they’d do anything if they could, all of the data shared is read-only.
I would’ve just let my setup be open, but, like you said, most of us with the technical knowledge of hosting a media server know better.
edit: chill with the downvotes, lads. Season 9 isn’t completely terrible.

But, Lemmy is extremely political with fuckall else outside of reposted memes and selfhosting nerds, so we don’t really fit the bill for Reddit’s normies until they’re all ready to come aboard, not that they ever will.

Yeah, we prefer real news.
Sports coverage might as well be celebrity gossip for as much relevance it has when the world is going to shit.
