Leftists often argue for unilateral disarming the minute after they win the revolution because their glorious revolutionary party couldn’t possibly betray the working class in any way.

CSAM is the reason I wouldn’t consider self hosting tbh. I fear it could result in me having hundreds of GBs worth of the stuff without me even noticing.
Nothing like this should ever rely on an external server.
I mean, that’s why BBC, NPR, NHK, etc. exist. And the result is that in a lot of ways it is more reliable than for profit news, but at the same time they’ll never really bite the hand that feeds (aka government, more specifically the Dems in NPR’s case.)
I audibly laughed.
In the context of Lemmy, my best explanation is that tankies hate Orwell.
I’m young enough to tell you that it’s not just nostalgia. Most new tech now is like “cool but impractical” at best and “I’m worrying about how this will be used to make the world worse” at worst. Nothing to make me think it’s the future.
Every other time I’ve encountered this argument, it’s been an argument in favor of racism and xenophobia, often a Nazbol argument like “socialism only works if no diversity.” It’s my instinct to refuse it.
But I couldn’t deny that, American conservatives and liberals + leftists, on the mental level, live in different realities, with not only different core values and worries, but different ideas of what is actually happening (and no, I actively believe American leftists do not live in a fundamentally different reality from American liberals the way conservatives do from liberals + leftists.)
Yes, but that’s keeping in mind that, contrary to popular belief among the types that go on Lemmy, most people aren’t ideological. They don’t care that Democrat A is this and Democrat B is that, they care about who they think will help their lives, ideology be damned. So, a lot of the people that socialists would call “libs” would vote for Bernie, BUT, most of those people think of Sanders primarily as “more liberal.”
People who are actively aware of the difference between neoliberalism and social democracy, I’m not sure. But I honestly think they’re a rounding error in US politics.
More likely, daisugi/copsing just doesn’t yield enough to meet demand.
Canada (from US.) I like where I live, I just don’t like the government.
If the Communists are willing to do what they say we need to do. This is a big “if” that I don’t see any evidence for.
I ultimately believe “everything is political” is true in the sense that everything interfaces with and influences the political system…but some people just use it to devalue any discussion that does not mention governorship, and any stories that are not propaganda.

As an amateur who used it for a year before switching to FL Studio, I could only recommend it as a way to explore DAW-based music creation for free before switching to something paid and better.
It’s just not feature complete enough, missing basic features like VST3 support (or VST support at all in the Mac version,) time signature changes, sample manipulation capabilities, or in-DAW recording, and it’s built-in effects plugins are overly hard to use. I’ve also seen claims it’s rendering engine is flawed and causes a minor distortion effect, but I can’t verify that myself.
All stereotypes are bad, but as a mixed black person, I’m frankly more worried about the “black people are violent” stereotype.
It’s not the only one (there’s also Crwth and Pwn)
My city’s most recent mayoral election is arguably a better argument for FPTP sucking than US presidential elections. The progressives were split between two candidates so we got the moderate, who’s pro-car in a city where people move for walkability and is painfully clearly trying to get an inroads to national politics.
It’s better than the nearby, bigger city though. SHEESH.
Team Multiplayer in general. There’s nothing fun about getting yelled at and in some cases banned for not playing the meta.
