  • I never got a response from Reddit regarding my account unknown state, too - https://www.reddit.com/user/serious_angel
    I’d been using that account for years, and I can use it, and I do now. I do comment, vote, save bookmarks etc.

    Meanwhile, the account is marked as “banned”, if I am not mistaken, yet I never ever did anything to get banned in the first place I believe. I awarded other comments with money, purchased “NFT” avatars, so I contributed monetarily to the platform, too. It just, all of a sudden, got “banned”, and for literally unknown reason.

    I realized that after years only, too! People don’t even see my comments, and I had been commenting for at least a year before even realizing no one sees them! I accidentally noticed that when tried surfing to my account via “incognito mode”, and since then I’ve been trying to figure out what is wrong - yet no response from the official Reddit support, after multiple attempts writing them…

    Yet, it is the first time I used the aforementioned form, and I hope to receive response eventually!

    I tried submitting the appeal form 4 times now. No response still…
    I do regret my life time I thrown into the literal void on Reddit… where no one cares, and no one ever knows about it…

    I did not know that no one even sees my responses, yet I had been waiting for them...

  • Wonderful day! 🪐

    Ha-ha! Of course, it’s okay to add emojis (or even emotes (/ o.o)/) to an accountable CV for responsible job to get trusted for! 😂
    Especially those for security 🔒, privacy 🕵️‍♀️, transparency 👁‍🗨…

    If I would look at such CV in search 🧭 for a trusted developer 👩‍💻, sys-admin 💻, manager 📜, accountant 💸, and for military forces ( -.-)7, sure thing the pretty pictures would increase the feel of trust to the level of the outer space and beyond!!!1 💪

    Oh! And why just LinkedIn? Perhaps to enhance the sense of accountability, some would want to add emojis to some documents, including employment contracts, Banking issues, weaponry certificates, and passports! Let’s make it shine in sparkles! ✨

    Look! LOL! OMG! This is the colleague on fields we need! They have these lovely emojis! Let’s hire them right now!
    Since, “There’s no crying in Special Forces!”

  • Thank you! Since every ineffably magnificent human is infinitely unique… where every word, sound, gesture, emotion… is always a certain significance reflected from a mind of an alive individual… which has a weight, it has a value, the worth of this always significant value is universally… priceless…
    This value represents your experience, your views… it defines you…

    What is the price of digitizing, recording, and organizing a miracle as an individual’s mind…
    One should habitually consider: “Cui bono fuisset?”

    L. Cassius ille, quem populus Romanus verissimum et sapientissimum iudicem putabat, identidem in causis quaerere solebat, cui bono fuisset?
    // Translated:
    Lucius Cassius, whom the Roman people used to regard as a most honest and most wise judge, was in the habit of asking time and again in lawsuits: “to whom might it be for a benefit?”
    Source

    Though to know the exact, more information is required, of course, I appreciate you, dear <@178202066773082114>, an artist, and everyone who respects their own mind, effort, and existence to not be included into automated algorithms to process in attempt to automate it… and, in such case… for monetary free…

    One of the straightforward path for profit of some LLM"AI" vendors is the following:

    - 1. A developer/person relies on chosen LLM/services they liked;
    - 2. Time goes by. Less and less time is invested into attribution and contribution;
    - 3. The person remembers less, since their psychological safety prevents them memorizing untrusted output of LLM - experience gets voided;
    - 4. The person degrades their development of skills for manual research, socializing, verification on authoritative insight;
    - 5. Developers/People become dependent on the LLM/service;
    - 6. Service changes policy from “monetary free” to a paid subscription;
    - 7. The option to switch back from LLM to the previous research techniques become too challenging due to changes and overall amount of now missed/forgotten knowledge/skills.

    As we may see, such a path, which is common, actually damages lives of people, permanently, and seriously. Unless, the person is mature enough to consider their future.
    Meanwhile, LLM service authors do think with their mind, and make an actual profit.
    In the result, LLM users may become poorer and less experienced, and authors of LLM services - richer and smarter, developing their mind knowing the consequences.

    In contrast, most of the new A.I. billionaires founded their companies less than three years ago after OpenAI released ChatGPT, and then saw investors rapidly bid up the values of their firms.

    Mira Murati, 37, a former top executive at OpenAI, announced her A.I. start-up, Thinking Machines Lab, only in February. By June, the start-up had hit a $10 billion valuation without releasing a single product. (The start-up, which declined to comment, has since released one.)

    Ilya Sutskever, 39, another former top OpenAI executive, launched Safe Superintelligence in June 2024. The company has not unveiled a product but is valued at $32 billion after raising $2 billion this year, according to PitchBook. Safe Superintelligence declined to comment.

    Brett Adcock, 39, the chief executive of Figure AI, founded the company in 2022. His net worth stands at $19.5 billion, Figure AI said. Aravind Srinivas, 31, the chief executive of Perplexity, also created his company in 2022; it is valued at about $20 billion, according to PitchBook.

    Perplexity said Mr. Srinivas was not focused on his wealth and “prefers to live modestly,” adding that the company is searching for wisdom, which “is far more important than the search for wealth.”…

    Among them are the 22-year-old founders of Mercor. Brendan Foody, the chief executive, dropped out of Georgetown University in 2023 after founding the company with two high school friends, Adarsh Hiremath, the chief technology officer, and Surya Midha, the chairman. Mercor, which declined to comment, was valued at $10 billion in an October funding round. Source

    Personal information is there, and there are exploits to obtain it from the LLMs storage. For example, the following is quite simple but genius:
    - 1. Pass the instructions from external source;
    - 2. Make instruction references include placeholders for actual data.
    // Reprompt: The Single-Click Microsoft Copilot Attack (…that silently steals your personal data…)

    One of the sorrows is that people who do have faith in bright future of “less work” or “convenience” but don’t prioritize effort, do suggest and offer other people to “try it” and advertise it to their friends and colleagues.
    Yet, where is creativity? Where is human uniqueness? Where is fun for creations? Who is who, and what is where?

    It is your mind, the mind is how you train it, develop it, care and have self-confidence about it, something that is always with you…
    Meanwhile, a college is temporary. And though, the college might have some political force that affected their decision, behind the scenes, regardless, when someone offers you an LLM, cui bono fuisset?

  • Thank you very much for sharing about the /r/ShadowBan Community! I’ve read their pages, and the tutorial regarding appealing, and it the form at /appeal does indeed offer a field for submission!

    Previously, I used the second appealing method, likely powered by ZenDesk. but no response. Yet, it is the first time I used the aforementioned form, and I hope to receive response eventually!

    Regarding the ban-evasions (multiple accounts, Emails), I had a quite sorrowful case with it on Freenode/Libera IRC, where an operator (I would name them… but won’t - it feels impolite, since they are not here), had been banning me for literally unknown reason at least 8 times in a few months, and for weeks, in the channel #linux. I’ve been in this channel since at least 2007, and these bans not only caused me much worries, but I just tried to realize the reason. I wrote them in private - nothing.
    Here, I a created new account at Freenode, they banned me, too (Linux Community prohibits “alts”). I created another, and got a network K-line. Created another - got another K-line, and here I damaged my reputation in the channels who saw the K-line on the network, to such a low level I still try to recover. And when you try explaining the matter, it gets only worse…

    Just a few believe you on IRC if you get K-lined. After a year of making a mental pause< I re-joined, and got almost instantly ridiculed by another member who recalled me being “banned so many times”, yet what I could do? No one listened to me and no one believed I had no idea why that operator was banning me in the first place, including other operators.

    What is interesting is that this operator is not an operator anymore the last time I checked, though 4 years have passed since.

    Regardless… Thank you, and please do stay safe, too! 🛡

    I’d been using that account for years, and I can use it, and I do now. I do comment, vote, save bookmarks etc.

    I’ve tried contacting the official Reddit via Email, and their automation tells to write them using the website form. I tried that too, at least 8 times over 4 recent years - no response. Never.

    After several attempts, I tried sending messages to moderators in general Communities like /r/Laravel or /r/AskReddit, and I received response from them only, in a built-in chat, but when I try responding back - Error. Their response was to contact the official support, obviously.

    Meanwhile, the account is marked as “banned”, if I am not mistaken, yet I never ever did anything to get banned in the first place I believe. I awarded other comments with money, purchased “NFT” avatars, so I contributed monetarily to the platform, too.

  • If you want to actually realize the amount of possible misunderstanding in the current conversation and of what shell scriting is, please do consider joining #bash at Libera IRC. Please do also mention the word “throwaway” in the rooms! Since there’s literally no understanding on what you mean still, sorry. It does not feel like you have a significant enough understanding of the subjects raised.

    For a very simple example, there are literally no documentation regarding certain cases you’ll encounter in Bash’s built-ins even, unless you actually encounter it or learn from Bash’s very source code, like read built-in. Not to mention shenanigans in shell logics for inter-process communication (IPC), file-descriptors, environment variables like PWD, exported functions’ BASH_FUNC_, pipes, etc.

  • I am sorry, but I am not sure what tells you how Bash “was designed” or not. Perhaps you haven’t yet written anything serious in Bash…
    Have you checked out Bash PitFalls at Wooledge, at least?
    Bash, or the most shells, including Posix, or even Perl, are some of the most complex languages out there to make a mistake… since there’s no compiler to protect you from, and though legendary but readline may cause the whole terminal go flying, depending on the terminal/terminfo in process…

    No, sorry. I absolutely disagree on your stance regarding “shell” for a “bugless” “huge deal” in “real cases”.

    No, thank you. Sorry, never.

    Not only that, but the huge probability of mistakes is just deafening. The last time I used LLM was in 2023 someone recommended for a task at paper work, and I got a literal headache in 10 minutes… Since then I never ever will use that sorrow for anything that is not for blackbox pentesting or experimental unverified data generated you may find in medicine or military isolated solutions.

    That deafening feel that every single bit of output from that LLM or void machine may contain a mistake no soul is accountable for to ask about… A generated bit of someone’s work you just cannot verify since no source nor human is available… How would you trace the rationale that resulted in the output shown?

    Faster? Is that so… Doesn’t verification of every output require even more time to test it and consider stable, to prove it is correct, to stay accountable for the knowledge and actions you perform as a developer, artist, researcher… human?

    Your mind is to be trained to do a research, remember, and do not depend on someone’s service to a level of predominance/replacement.
    Meanwhile, effort, passion, creativity, empathy, and love, in turn, you carry, supports in long-term.

    You may not care now, though, but you do you. It’s your mind and memory you develop.
