I like to throw out a random y’all just to throw off scrapers like this. In my mind, they’ll either think I’m in the southern US or just get confused.

That’s the claim from like every AI company and wow do I hope that’s what happens. Maybe I’m just a Luddite with AI. I really hope I’m wrong since it’s here to stay.
Yeah that’s a big part of it…shifting off the stuff that we don’t think is important (and probably isn’t). My view is that it’s escalated to where I’m using my phone calculator for stuff I did in my head in high school (I was a cashier in HS so it was easy)…which is also not a big deal but getting a little bigger than the phone number thing. From there, what if I used it to leverage a new programming API as opposed to using the docs site. Probably not a big deal but bigger than the calculator thing to me. My point is that it’s all these little things that don’t individually matter but together add up to some big changes in the way we think. We are outsourcing our thinking which would be helpful if we used the free capacity for higher level thinking but I’m not sure if we will.
This is the next step towards Idiocracy. I use AI for things like Summarizing zoom meetings so I don’t need to take notes and I can’t imagine I’ll stop there in the future. It’s like how I forgot everyone’s telephone numbers once we got cell phones…we used to have to know numbers back then. AI is a big leap in that direction. I’m thinking the long term effects are all of us just getting dumber and shifting more and more “little unimportant “ things to AI until we end up in an Idiocracy scene. Sadly I will be there with everyone else.
Uses to go to Mountain Jam at Hunter Mountain in NY almost every year. It’s still a smaller event than the big ones and I think it makes a huge difference. It’s amazing but I haven’t been since before the pandemic. Camping with a couple thousand of your closest friends that you’ve never met while live music plays all day and night is incredible. Just migrating between campsites and sitting down for beers with everyone while they do the same with your campsite is a lesson to humanity.
I’ve had an Apple Watch 5 since it came out and I see no reason to upgrade. The only thing I really dislike is the battery life but to fix that you’d need to get a Garmin or similar. So can’t think of a reason I would upgrade.
I wonder what happens to Google without the advertising monopoly. They kill off everything else they build so realistically they are just an ad company at this point which offers a declining search engine. While they won’t be dethroned anytime soon in search, they keep making it worse so I have to imagine it won’t be gaining users. If they did break it out, maybe that will improve search.
Bro this ain’t the 1800s, we’re obviously using LED light strips for that now. The downside is that a single section goes dark and we lose mapping data for the entire northeast. Totally worth it though when they turn on the strobe effect.
Home labs everywhere will soon have super cheap hardware options from PCs that can’t update to Windows 11 but are capable of running multiple virtual machines (like windows 11).
I’m of the opinion that it’s just to improve the perception of package quality. I don’t see those cheap plastic pieces as keeping the prongs from accidentally warping or bending but I guess they could keep moisture away. I’ve never received a corroded set of prongs before their use though so my theory stands as they are upping the packaging visual aesthetics.
US about to declare war on the Arctic and bring some freedom to…uh…the penguins?
This is the intersection of Xitter and SpaceX and it looks like Xitter takes priority.
Right!?!?!?! I thought we hit rock bottom with Bush Jr and then this whole thing with Trump came along. I am starting to realize that it’s just going to get worse from here. If GWB wasn’t the worst then Trump will likely not be the worst.
You have to remember that the cloud is just a series of data centers owned by cloud providers. If you are Netflix, you’re not hosting Stranger Things for audiences in the US from the EU. You have a copy of it in both places and leverage AWS regions in each area to server geographically closer users (it’s typically called latency based routing). If the undersea cables are cut, the EU still watches Netflix because the content doesn’t need to travel undersea, it’s already in the EU, same thing in the US. The challenge comes in at the end of the month when people pay their Netflix bills and the banks needs to process international payments. End users are largely not impacted by direct service outages but big companies are.
The one thing that LLMs have done for me is to make summarizing and correlating data in documents really easy. Take 20 docs of notes about a project and have it summarize where they are at so I can get up to speed quickly. Works surprisingly well. I haven’t had luck with code requests.
We will all be given old school Casio calculators a d sent to crunch numbers in the bitcoin mines.
Could be good as a firewall with PFSense or something. 2.5gb to the ISP and a 10gb trunk port. Would be an upgrade for me. All I would use is a drive in it though.
I don’t want my car to be lonely while I’m out in nature. If you’re lonely, they’re lonely…give them a friend.
I cant even picture how he would have meaningful relationships with the children as they have three different mothers so at least three different households on top of him being CEO of multiple companies. I wonder how often he even sees the kids. Maybe this is the Republican dream of spawning more children but never having to raise or care for any of them outside of maybe an annual trip to Disney Land or some shit.
Damn that made me laugh.
