Just last month I came across a cd I burned with Mandrake Linux that I had downloaded - 26 years ago!
I should try and install that on a virtual PC and see how it feels/looks hahaha
Yeah no doubt, a RAID would be more effective. But still a 256TB SSD is absolutely insane when you think about it, compared to where technology was 10 or 20 years ago.
Crazy to think it was only about fifteen years ago the small Data-storage server reseller I worked for was selling their own in-house server racks - a whole 52U rack filled with Supermicro drive bays to store a petabyte of data was $300k and that was a steal of a deal at the time.
Sure, that system was redundant and this is a single pbSSD, but still crazy to see how fast things are evolving
How are you seeing gifs in kbin? All I’m seeing is a url link to the gif and have to click the media icon button next to the URL For it to load… is there a setting I need to enable to load pictures/gifs automatically?
Hopefully the factory can find a good workaround for future revisions of the design. But gotta hand it to Prusa - they quickly respond when something needs be adjusted in the build. I remember the minor upgrades from the MK3s to the MK3s+ which seemed minor to some, but were huge for others (for me I see barely any difference in my farm, but hey I’m glad they made those changes if it increases the lifespan of the rails/bearings, etc).
Dude, satin build plate for the win, it’s amazing
Crazy how people are still finding new things to cram doom into. I remember when that was a popular thing to do twenty years ago haha
But I’ll admit, stuffing it into a keycap is pretty damn impressive, albeit useless haha
Good to hear some people are happy with their MK4.
I’ve been seeing so many complaints in the Prusa facebook groups from early adopters.
Personally I’m keeping my printer farm running MK3S printers for now, I’m gonna let everyone continue beta-testing the MK4 for another year or two before I splurge on a few factory assembled machines for the farm.
Even a simple kbin link would work.
For example since this community is “fediverse” on the lemmy.world instance my link would be
Loving the tool - but when i try to login and put in the instance of kbin.social it gives me an error
Hahaha, true, you could fit maybe a few jpg photos on a floppy

I was curious about that 6.5 mile claim, and you are correct - while large chunks were thrown thousands of feet away, the plume of concrete dust expanded 6.5 miles away.
Pretty sure it was intentional. I can’t find it now but there was a decision by Elno to not add the water systems to the launch pad which would have prevented the pad from being destroyed. They knew it would get damaged so decided not to mitigate the problem.
Big bro was trying to sign up for ChatGPT to play with it. The new signup has a difficult captcha that my bro could not solve - it had 9 puzzles and wouldn’t tell him he failed until he finished all 9. Finally after four or five times I told him to just do the audio test and he passed that one on the first try. But damn it’s getting harder and harder to prove you’re a real human!
Seems like every major transition from social media platform reduces that length of time for niche communities. It also took Reddit a while to get there as well. But people are already looking for identical communities on lemmy, like the tree ents
Yep. You know how hot your phone gets when charging? Or how hot a playstation gets when gaming for hours at a time?
That’s due to heat-loss generated by the circuits. Superconductors would allow them to run much cooler generating essentially zero heat. Which means they can run more efficiently or faster without the need for larger heatsinks or complicated expensive cooling systems.
Someone is totally going to turn this into a reprap 3D printer, and I’m absolutely here for it. I can’t wait to toss on a 1mm nozzle and start printing some massive 3D printed bog planters for my savage garden hahaha.
