  • Everyone does everything to enrich themselves. The motivation for all life is to feel good. Sometimes money makes you feel good. Sometimes sex makes you feel good. Sometimes doing the right thing makes you feel good. In any situation, any person is going to be making the decision they make based on what will make them feel good. That includes “selfless acts” because even in those the joy of altruism can make a person feel good regardless of the hurt they may endure by their choice.

The key is finding people that feel good for doing good things. No one is perfect, but some people try harder than others. And don’t put them on a pedestal. If the last few years have taught us anything, it’s that our idols are just as bad as the rest of us.

  • The British philosopher R G Collingwood noticed that the painter doesn’t invent painting, and the musician doesn’t invent the musical culture in which they find themselves. And for Collingwood this served to show that no person is fully autonomous, a God-like fount of creativity; we are always to some degree recyclers and samplers and, at our best, participants in something larger than ourselves.

But this should not be taken to show that we become what we are (painters, musicians, speakers) by doing what, for example, LLMs do – ie, merely by getting trained up on large data sets. Humans aren’t trained up. We have experience. We learn.

This is what happens when people try to apply philosophy to science. They get romantic and egotistical. “Oh, humanity, will your wondrous powers of learning ever be duplicated? Not by brutish machines, I daresay. They only do what they are told and learn what is given to them.”

  • Lots of times when me and KG are watching

All the fucking shit that goes down at City Hall

We get the feeling we should fuck shit up

Yeah, we should fucking start a riot

    A riot!

And the song continues to tell about the destruction of the government, with the implication that previous leaders are dead. It’s obviously a joke song, and when KG made the joke on stage it should have been taken just the same, but Hollywood Jack stepped in and thought about all of the movie deals he was gonna miss out on… like fucking Minecraft… Yeah. I love Jack, and I wish him the best, but I am on KG’s side, and if they haven’t fixed this shit on a personal level, and Kage comes out with some shit about Jack sucking, I’m gonna wave goodbye to the D.
