Why not a community
!lemmyinstancegraveyard@lemmy.world
And a community for peertube and plume instances
!peertubeinstancegraveyard@lemmy.world
!plumeinstancegraveyard@lemmy.world
Someone on kbin could make a kbin graveyard community.
comcreator@lemmy.worldto Fediverse@lemmy.world•We need a more user-friendly approach to telling people about the FediverseEnglish62·2 years ago!redditexodusarmy@lemmy.world is a community I created for others to join and share ways of promoting Lemmy to Redditors.
Essentiallly an elevator pitch is the best way to promote Lemmy. Don’t make it a long speech on why Lemmy is good. Keep it short and exciting.
comcreator@lemmy.worldto DeGoogle Yourself@lemmy.ml•Alternative to Google Wallet/Google pay?English3·2 years agoHow would one go about creating a fully FOSS or mostly FOSS alternative to Google Pay?
comcreator@lemmy.worldto DeGoogle Yourself@lemmy.ml•Alternative to Google Wallet/Google pay?English21·2 years agoDo not know of any open source alternatives and it is surprising to me there are none. To my understanding, all that is needed as a mobile app that one can store their credit card on (number, expiry, cvc) and have NFC for permission for tap payments. The app should be able to function offline since the payment is done though the NFC, not your phone’s internet connection.
I saw this a few years ago but I am not sure if it will act as a replacement for chromecast
comcreator@lemmy.worldto DeGoogle Yourself@lemmy.ml•is Privacy the only reason you degoogle?English21·2 years agoPrivacy mainly but to also get away from centralized platforms like youtube.
Joplin is an option but may have more features that you do not need and you can pay for Joplin Cloud if you want to share notes with others.

comcreator@lemmy.worldto DeGoogle Yourself@lemmy.ml•Galaxy A32 4g degoogled, is it possible?41·2 years agoThere is not official rom support for this device and only can find an unofficial rom build for the 5G version of this device.
Once you retire the phone, I would get a Google Pixel phone and flash GrapheneOS on it personally, even though your buying a phone made by Google themselves.
comcreator@lemmy.worldto Android@lemdro.id•Android 14 Will Bring Support For Satellite SMS Starting With Pixel And Galaxy Phones, Will Require Supported HardwareEnglish172·2 years agoWait, so this will allow phones with supported hardware to SMS and calls anywhere in the world, even in the middle of nowhere with no cellular coverage?
comcreator@lemmy.worldto Fediverse@lemmy.world•What If: Signal Was Part of the Fediverse?English21·2 years agoTrue
If you have a reddit account, you can message the moderators on r/degoogle and ask if they wish to help moderate this community on lemmy.
I have deleted the !degoogle@lemmy.world not too long ago to avoid avoid fragmentation. No need for two communities. I guess !degoogle@lemmy.world will still appear on other instances due to how federation works? However the !degoogle@lemmy.world community is gone on lemmy.world.
comcreator@lemmy.worldto Fediverse@lemmy.world•Can I use the same domain name for Lemmy and Mastodon?English11·2 years agoYes, but at least one of the services must be using a subdomain.
comcreator@lemmy.worldto Fediverse@lemmy.world•Another win for the decentralized Fediverse when a government domain takeback can’t shut it down!191·2 years agoWho owns or controls .world domains?
I think .ee and .ca are fine. lemmy.ca is for Canadians specifically
comcreator@lemmy.worldto Fediverse@lemmy.world•What If: Signal Was Part of the Fediverse?English122·2 years agoMatrix is the federated alternative to Signal.
However it would be cool to see Signal implementing their encryption into Matrix and turning Signal into a Matrix provider, becoming a federated messanger.
If you wanted a lemmy graveyard instance community, would you create it, find others to help moderate it and get the ball rolling? The answer is most likely not. That is why I make these communities, so they exist and to get them going.
