My bad for asumming that most subscribers know what mov-cli and lobster do. What I’m asking for is a program that takes the title of a movie or series as an input from the command line and start scrapping movie sites and when the movie or series is found it starts streaming it to mpv.
What mov-cli and lobster do is scrapping movie sites and start playing the movie you just typed by streaming.
You don’t need a pixel to degoogle, you can degoogle with lineage OS which supports a lot of phones.
We are talking about privacy, not security, like when being individually targeted by the state or someone else, that’s another topic. Privacy-wise the main source of information about you comes from apps that collect all the information available (which is huge), they sell it to data brokers which in turn sell it other companies that tipically try to sell you something or want to know your habits (like your employers). If you don’t use their apps they can’t collect information about you and sell it, and that happens when you migrate to free software. Only location will still be collected because mobile service providers log it and sell it, but there are ways to mitigate that too.
Turns out the older your data the less it is worth
That’s why I think is not the best approach to delete your accounts. Keep an old phone with all your accounts and every now and then watch a random video, make a random search, follow a random profile, and so on with all your accounts. Over time your true profile will become obsolete and buried under fake data.
Yeah, the solution to apps selling your data is using only free software, the only problem that still remains is that your mobile network provider also sells your location data.
Social Media is not the only problem, it’s far worse than that and you will not solve it leaving social media. Your employers get all the information about you from what is called ‘data brokers’ which are the ones who buy the data collected by all the apps that you install in your phone and sell it to everyone interested, not only companies trying to sell you something, but also employers like the case you posted and also state agencies, who dodge in this way breaking the law by spying you. That’s the big business of data collection. Here an investigation made by german journalists How data brokers sell our location data
I’m already using one that doesn’t require proprietary firmware, but it’s Bluetooth version 1.1 which it has its limitations
Does it support playlists or at least a list of videos in the video link?
Yeah, I use MPV as a external player and it’s great because you can highly customize the way you watch videos. I like equalize the sound and through a MPV script I save the video from cache with a keystroke if I liked it. Sadly watching with subtitles stopped working some weeks ago.
I don’t see the reasoning “hackers with AI” is a vague, it’s already happening. Scammers use deepfakes to steal $25.6 million from a multinational firm The software to do this is already available in github for anyone to use it. There’s a billion market around phone scams, it’s just a matter of time of widespread adoption of this technology by scammers. Scammers are swiping billions from Americans every year That’s why I talked about being well informed and seeing the dangers. May be I’m paranoid but it doesn’t mean its not happening.
The heat expands the brain and the raise of pressure against the skull induce criminal behavior. It’s scientifically proven.
If I should talk about an emotional color concerning to this I’d say it’s defeat. They will get what they want.
Because of economical reasons it’s not an option right now.
Well, it seems that my bad english made it seem that I am suffering of anxiety or something. I just don’t like the abussive behavior of corporations and the government that exposes us unnecessarly to the risks of being hacked or scammed.
No daily anxiety at all, just being aware of the dangers. When I drive and see a red light I just stop, there is no anxiety involved, I’m just aware of the dangers of crossing. If you are not aware of the dangers of the excessive digital exposure and surveillance you should subscribe to this community and read what’s going on in China and in an increasing number of western countries in relation to this.
do you see how easily you are manipulated with misinformation? That’s why people don’t stop talking stupid things about bitcoin. She doesn’t say that in any moment. She says higher highs and higher lows, which is true and doesn’t mean allways increasing.
One of the biggest misconceptions about bitcoin is that it’s a neoliberal/libertarian thing. Thinking this way only shows lack of understanding. A famous short video from the most respected bitcoin educator will make understand better. https://youtu.be/ywO0r_Fz0lc
And about the environmental concerns Lyn Alden has a post that deals with all the misinformation. If you are really interested take the time to read it, it’s exhaustive. https://www.lynalden.com/bitcoin-energy/
