There’s a reason why artists have to sell 50$ t-shirts at shows. Back in the days, the label would leech you dry, and now it’s Spotify, on top of your label

I’d be using apps a lot more often, if they were actually functionally useful, and not just a vehicle for micro transactions, and ad revenue. Half of the shit i used to open regularly is now paywalled, to the point where even the barebones features of those apps aren’t available anymore
Things like WP prove yet another time, that investing into a proper product is better, than cutting corners. If you need a website, hire an engineer. It will be yours, and you can do whatever you want with it. There are plenty of CMS options too.
I wish I could repurpose my Home Minis to use this. Google butchered those entirely over time, so now they’re practically collecting dust, when I dont use them as an occasional room speaker
That’s horrible news
The only bit of excitement I’ve experienced about this, was when they announced it will be force-disabled in Europe, so I didn’t have to turn it off myself
Of course he did. People like him would not exist, if the law worked as intended, and we’ve already seen how all of them lined up to slobber each other’s knob for tax cuts and law loopholes
Have they maybe considered just studying?
Hope it can stay that way
You’ve essentially described exactly what the issue is. All these companies want you to continue subscribing, so you owning anything isn’t in their interest
You’re misunderstanding. I’m not talking about drive space, i’m talking about the space the physical disk cases take up
As much as I hate that this is happening, I think once you turn to digital media, it’s incredibly difficult to go back. The convenience of having your stuff at a click of a button is just too good.
That said, if you’re into movies specifically, i’d personally still go the route of buying a disk, and ripping it to your local storage, but that’s both expensive, and inconvenient in terms of space
If yield rates aren’t a good metric, what does he think is then? It’s certainly not layoff numbers, or C-suite compensation.
If after all that investment you’re only able to produce TEN PERCENT of the product successfully, that’s a failure, by definition. Even if they quintuple the yields, that’s still incredibly poor
Welcome to 2024. Either you play, or get played. Being genuine and honest is becoming harder by the day
It’s already too late. Those who wanted to weaponize it have already done so
That’s current Verge for you. It only got worse since then
Ironically, it’s news that’s free, and garbage is behind the paywall. Verge is not what people remember it being from years ago
The real election danger wasn’t AI, after all. The real danger were the reckless, emotionally motivated, uneducated people.
This really is quite upsetting. Proper journalism is dying as is, but seeing homelab enjoyers write out some AI slop is just as disheartening
They lost it last time, and they will lose it again
