Depends on the leftist, but generally I think hoarding land you’re not personally using, especially during a housing crisis, is wrong.
I also think that charging rent from people to simply exist in a place you aren’t using anyway is wrong. When she pays the mortgage she’s buying equity, when they pay the rent they’re buying jack shit. It’s an enormous parasitic drain on the economy.
But I don’t think she’s, like, evil. Not the same way that major landlord companies are. And I understand the motivations. I still disagree with the methods, but until the great commie revolution/rapture (/s) comes we all have to engage with problematic capitalist systems to a greater or lesser extent.
Instead of fishing for a debate how about you just go ahead and say whatever it is you’re thinking
I mean, the case could go cold. People have gotten away with murder before. Granted there’s a ton of extra scrutiny in this situation, but there’s a definite chance.
Carbonic acid is a bastard
“federation” and “decentralization” are the new hotness in social networks,
Are they? I think it only seems like that from inside the fediverse. As far as blue sky goes I think the new hotness is just getting the hell away from anything to do with elon
It’s also not, like, unattainable
But it’s definitely well beyond what any hobbyist is going to set up in a whim
Presently? Hardly at all. It is interesting that a private Corp is even seriously playing with building a decentralized platform, I guess.
The files are out there to host your own server but from the short look I took it’s pretty involved. Most people with the knowledge and interest to host their own twitter-like server have probably already started a mastodon instance.
Pretty sure it’s 100% efficient (100% energy consumed is emitted as heat) meaning it’s exactly as efficient as a space heater. Only way to get more efficient is a heat pump.
Wish it was mastodon; this feels like kicking the can down the road rather than actually solving any problems. Whatever, it’s still better than twitter
I’m not sure how much these endorsements actually matter… Lord knows Liz Cheney’s endorsing Kamala didn’t tip the scales.
Would establishment libs support a leftist? Maybe not. But that doesn’t mean that voters would necessarily follow suit.
Probably. People tend to vote for their team - regardless of the actual underlying policy
No promises, though.
Right now, although I’m not at all surprised.
Yeah, mastodon simply doesn’t have an advertising budget, and having to pick an instance, while trivial, is still enough to stop a lot of people from joining.
Short of congress changing the law or a successful coup, neither of which are necessarily off the table, yes these next four years will be Trump’s last in office. Who knows what either party will have to offer in 2028.
Genuinely the single worst messaging app I’ve ever used. Worse than Skype, which is crazy because Microsoft owns that too.
This decision is made for most people by the electrician who wired the house. This seems like as decent a hypothesis as any for why they seem to prefer washers to the left
Is this a thing people say unironically? It’s as dumb as saying “just go be a movie star”
In my experience, this highly depends on the college. Mine really didn’t do shit for me as far as networking goes. And what connections i did make didn’t end up helping anyway. Maybe it starts mattering more once you’ve got some experience?
Can they sue crunch fitness next?
