  • As someone who’s never used Apple devices I was a bit peeved when my car came with an iPod. I spent days trying out random 3rd party software because I refused to use iTunes. In the end, I settled for CopyTrans software.

You still need to have the iTunes services installed afaik, but you can use this program to put music on your device, pad out the meta info on the MP3 files and sync the playlists without having to open iTunes at all.

Maybe not entirely the answer you were looking for, but it was a workable solution for me after days of trial and error, so I’m hoping I can save you those troubles.

  • It essentially creates a caste system where equal exchange can’t happen.

If you experience Nitro members being seen as more important than others, you’re in the wrong Discord communities.

I’ve never seen someone being glorified because they are a Nitro user, and although I’ve seen some member pretending to be superior because they have Nitro, they were quickly to be ridiculed and put back in their place for trying to gloat about paying for it.

  • It’s a lighting technique that creates more realistic visuals, especially reflections.

The technique allows the GPU to “track” / calculate how the light should actually travel and what it bounces off of (like light in real life), compared to the pre-calculated methods of before.

So it will cost you processing power and therefore frames, but it greatly increases the visual accuracy of lighting, shadows and reflections.

A simple but effective example is Minecraft with Ray Tracing. The following video showcases the difference:

    https://youtu.be/9qxfavtUs7w

Notice how the game looks completely different. That’s what lighting can do for a game.

Obviously this is less noticeable when it’s a game with realistic graphics and a lot of time spent on getting the (prebaked) lighting just right.

  • Company A raises prices because they are greedy bastards. Company B is then impressed with the sheer display of dominance by A and raises prices accordingly to “keep up”.

When there’s a dozen manufacturers, they won’t all do it. As I mentioned, this is price fixing and illegal in a lot of countries.

Secondly, what’s stopping someone from creating another company to undercut all of those greedy bastards to corner the market?

  • Here’s a good breakdown: https://econreview.studentorg.berkeley.edu/unboxing-universal-basic-income/

As for my thoughts, yes there would be a noticeable impact at first, but UBI would help stabilise and strengthen the economy in the long term because purchasing power and demand will increase. If supply can keep up, prices won’t go up. Companies can’t just raise prices as that’s called price fixing. Antitrust laws should be there to prevent that, but your mileage may vary depending on your country. That means that if some companies decide to raise prices because of more purchasing power, some smart company is going to charge less to gain more market share. So we’re still doing capitalism, but there’s a social safety net.

Also, people will still go to work to find purpose. Except “work” in this case could mean the freedom and flexibility to contribute locally, or take higher risks like entrepreneurship or becoming an artist.
