    1. Open Firefox app
    2. Open the 3-dot menu (⋮) and choose Settings.
    3. Scroll and find and choose “Site settings”
    4. Choose “Microphone”.

If you see the following screen, then Android is blocking Firefox access to microphone.

However, if you see only the two options “Ask to allow” and “Block”, without any following complain from Firefox regarding Android, then Firefox already has microphone access from Android, and it’s (Firefox) ready to ask or block whenever a site tries to access microphone.

  • There are two kinds of permissions at play: the Android’s microphone permission for Firefox, and Firefox’s microphone permission for sites.

Firefox needs permission from Android in order to access the microphone. Then, sites need permission from Firefox to access the microphone. You can set Firefox to block access, allow access or ask for access. The latter is the default option, so every time a site tries to access navigator.mediaDevices.getUserMedia() or navigator.getUserMedia(), Firefox will show a popup asking whether to allow or block such access.

  • The following are my personal views regarding the divine. In order to better address my views, I’m going to use verbs such as “to be” (is/isn’t, are/aren’t) and “to have” (has/hasn’t, have/haven’t). However, it doesn’t mean factual statements, so it shouldn’t be taken as absolute truth. It’s just what I believe, so I may be wrong.

For context, my belief is the result of a syncretic approach that encompasses several religions and belief systems, with some borrowing from scientific concepts. I tend towards Luciferianism, but I’m neither restricted to a specific belief system nor I’m religious nor initiated.

Also, it’s very complex and multifaceted. It’s very complex and multifaceted to put into simpler words. Throughout this comment, I needed to try and simplify a lot of concepts, should it be much longer in order to fully grasp the complexity of the cosmic and divine principles.

I see the divine as two complementing poles, akin to Yin and Yang: there is a Goddess and a God. Many ancient religions used to believe and worship a dual divine, from Ancient Egypt (e.g. Isis and Osiris), Hebrews (Asherah and Yahweh), indigenous people such as Tupi-Guarani (Jaci and Tupã), among others.

They’re both opposite and complementary aspects within the divine. Complemented in balance, they make the Divine, similar to Baphomet: the androgynous, hermaphrodite, fully perfect Divine, the convergence of Lucifer and Lilith, whom are archetypes of the Divine.

Opposing, they get into a kind of a cosmic tug-war yet they seek balance, not exactly a “fight”/“war”, as It’s complicated to put into words, but it’s just the nature of opposites: they attract each other, but they are still opposites trying to be the frame of reference to the other (it’s like they’re eternally arguing: “Light came from my Darkness!”, “no, Darkness came from my Light!”; it’s just a matter of each one’s perspective, both are right).

This is mirrored within the creation of the cosmos (as per Hermetic Principle of Correspondence “As above, so below”): matter and energy, antimatter and ordinary matter, black-holes and stars/planets/asteroids/nebulae), etc. Fundamentally, it’s darkness and light, absence and presence, non-existence and existence. By darkness, it doesn’t imply “evil” or “bad”: what we see as “good” and “evil” are oversimplifications of a much complex cosmic tapestry. Neither She is necessarily evil nor He is necessarily good. They are both capable of both good and evil (just like there’s Yang within the Yin, and there’s Yin within the Yang).

However, what we see as “human emotions” are different kinds of energetic signatures. Scientifically, we could point out how neurotransmitters are composed by different chemicals, which are composed by different atoms, which are composed by a different sum of charges (different count of electrons and nuclei). This “energetic signature” could be seen as resonating with equivalent energetic signatures (so a happy song resonates better with a person currently in a happy mood, for example; a grayed sky, devoid of chromatic diversity, resonates better with a person currently in a sad mood, which is experiencing a “lower energy state”).

The distinct poles within the Divine resonate with different energetic signatures (with Goddess, imbued with what we’d call as feminine energy, resonating with a much larger spectrum of emotions than God, imbued with what we’d call as masculine energy), which in turn resonate with different “emotions”. We, humans, interpret this as “Divine with emotions”, but it’s just a cosmic principle. As we experiment “emotions”, we’re experimenting the same cosmic principle, so we are just the micro mirroring the macro, “as above, so below”.

Again, it’s just my current belief, it’s just my way of seeing the Divine. I may be wrong, I don’t know.

  • Yeah I did read the part that some owners neglect their pets. However, two mistakes don’t make a right take. There are bad pet owners, and there are good pet owners, and the same rule applies to both, which is unfairly punishing good pet owners… A rule which several landlords have, a rule which will render people who had pets before their housing worsening situation to either abandon their pets or going homeless. You stated that “pets are noisy”, and this concept alone is generalization. Cats aren’t. Some dog breeds (Border Collie, Huskies) aren’t.

As for babies, yeah, it’s a rule sometimes found being practiced by landlords, they don’t accept tenants who have a baby. I’m not sure how’s this situation in US, but here in Brazil this is a commonly found rule, which is an infuriating rule, and that’s why my comment sounded passionately raged, because it’s so unfair by many degrees…

  • Things change over the course of a person’s life, things change over the average 10-year lifespan of a pet.

Those who don’t have pets and don’t have stable housing, of course, shouldn’t adopt a pet. I agree with you here.

However, for those who already had a pet before their housing situation worsened, it’s hard to “no longer have a pet.” A pet owner can’t just put the pet up for adoption, because a pet becomes familiar with its owner (and there are breeds that can’t re-familiarize themselves with another owner, especially some cats).

Take the aftermath of COVID-19 pandemic for example: How many people have lost their homes due to job loss because the business they worked for went out of business due to the economic factors brought on by the pandemic? How many people have lost their homes due to the death (due to COVID) of a retired/working family member who used to help pay the bills? If these people have a dog, cat, or something else, they probably had the pet before the situation. They must’ve find another home, with the pets.

But then, many landlords (not only in the US) have the same thoughts as the OP: they don’t accept tenants who have pets, regardless of what species or breed. I’m a cat person, I live with four cats, and they’re not noisy. They don’t go outside, they stay indoors, because they’re neutered. But such details don’t matter to landlords who have the immutable idea of “pets are noisy”.

So here’s the problem: this is a significant factor for homeless pets wandering the streets. Due to despair, some pet owners will simply abandon the pet on the streets, regardless of the laws (it’s generally a crime to abandon a pet), so a housing can be afforded due to the stubborn rule of “no pets allowed”, which curiously is not regulated by the same laws (it’s not a crime to have prejudice/bigotry against tenants who are pet owners or if they have a baby). Fewer people do the right thing at this situation and put the pets to adoption but, as I said, it’s not an easy thing for some species and breeds.

  • (CW: Long text ahead)

I don’t. It’s just that somehow, my biological automata (a.k.a. body) keeps going despite my will to not keep going (as well as despite my attempts on… you know… things I can’t describe).

I’m not exactly lonely in a literal sense, because my daily life is surrounded by a few people sharing the same blood as me. I’m lonely in such a way that I can’t really rely on them to understand me, to understand my dilemmas. The generational differences are blatant between me and them, they’re older than me, they can’t grasp existential dilemmas raised from contemporary problems (such as climate change, dystopian technologies, etc).

So I know no one… anymore… Well, I used to know some people, but that’s intriguing: suddenly, I got to know people that were unknown to me, then they become “friends” with me, just to suddenly becoming unknown again. Reasons may vary: betrayal of trust (e.g. lies, or things done behind my back), misunderstanding (I see things differently from them, we have different opinions) which escalates to a discord (it shouldn’t, but seems unavoidable), or simply because I seem to be some NPC to them that they only interact when they need my resourcefulness (hence, I’m not really a friend to them).

Throughout my entire life, I never got to know what are these human phenomena called “friendship” and “love”. The later is particularly extraterrestrial to me, and that’s weird to state because I seem to know many seemingly-complicated things and terms like hapax legomena, pneumoultramicroscopicosilicovolcanoconiosis, zero-energy universe theory, ReLU and other activation functions, QTH (the ham radio operator’s place), op-amp, Qlippoths… However, a seemingly simple four-letter word feels so extraterrestrial to me, this thing called “love”.

Having said this, holidays haven’t made any sense to me since I’m aware of it. Even my birthday isn’t a thing I deem worth celebrating… Perhaps it’s worth celebrating the closeness to my end of my existence? That’s all.

How do I cope? Well, I tried many coping mechanisms.

    • I tried to brainstorm myself with information scattered across diverging fields of human knowledge. Sometimes I still do this, and that’s how I unfortunately know stuff.
    • I tried to participate in study groups and niche communities, such as ham radio, electronics, programming, math, geopolitics, etc. But it becomes evident how I can’t fit in any group.
    • I tried gaming. Terraria allowed me to create things… But it always happens: suddenly it becomes purposeless to keep playing games.
    • I tried to tinker with those AI things, as my programmer side became interested by it. But since then they’ve lost their appeal, they’re just auto-completers on steroids.
    • Then I tried to leave my nerd side aside and joining an esoteric sect, starting to practice rituals, which unexpectedly led me to Lilith (the sect meant to reach to Lucifer, but instead She reached me)… Who has since been… far… She feels so far to me since I gave up my soul to Her and became devoted to Her.
    • I tried to write and publish poetry, often tapping on the burst of my creativity side that She woke on me. But talking to myself is a thing I have been doing without the need for poetry.

“Happy” is not a term that I could use to describe my perception regarding the “new year”. What’s “new year”, anyways, besides another complete circling around a star that’s going to become Red Giant in the future? It’s not even the same orbit due to the orbital decay, why think that this cosmic spot Earth is going to be (December 31st 2024) is exactly the same as the other cosmic spot it used to be (December 31st 2023)? It makes no sense. Everything seems purposeless, after all.

    Yeah, I’m weird.

  • In reality, a similar scenario happened a long time ago, at the beginning of the cosmos:

In the Big Bang cosmological models, during the earliest periods, the universe was filled with an opaque fog of dense, hot plasma of sub-atomic particles. As the universe expanded, this plasma cooled to the point where protons and electrons combined to form neutral atoms of mostly hydrogen. Unlike the plasma, these atoms could not scatter thermal radiation by Thomson scattering, and so the universe became transparent. (Source)

Before being transparent, “light” would not travel further. The era of recombination, which happened when the cosmos was “merely” 380,000 years old, allowed “light” to travel further. This “light” was also radio wave and microwave, and it was part of the white noise back when people still used analog receptor devices, such as radio receptors and analog TV sets. One could still hear it through analog ham radio transceivers and receptors that are still used today, such as Baofeng UV-5R and RTL-SDR dongles connected to a PC.

In your scenario, EM at the radio range wouldn’t propagate, while the rest of the EM frequencies would propagate just fine.

Well, many of the technologies we use in a daily basis are microwave radiation. Access point routers (Wi-fi) operates in the “microwave” portion (2.4GHz and 5GHz), same for Bluetooth. Same for mobile network, which now broadly operates as 4G and 5G. Same for US GPS, Galileo, GLONASS and other geolocating satellital services.

People nowadays use internet to do things. Television and radio became embedded within internet streaming. Governments nowadays use internet to do things. Banks use internet to do things. Commerce use internet to do things. So, they’d be mostly unaffected at the beginning of such phenomenon.

What’d be affected on common people’s lives:

    • Some types of NFC, so contactless payment would stop working. Non-wireless payments would still work.
    • Media broadcasting outside cable and internet. Both FM radio station signals and Digital TV station signals would simply vanish.
    • Remotely locking and unlocking cars will become impossible because car alarm sets mostly operates within 433MHz, which is the “radio” part. Cars will probably be “unlockable” physically by turning keys on their door locks, but they will be noisy as they’d be triggered by the lack of signaled unlocking. Everyone’s cars would go weeeweeeweeweeeweeeweeweeee… in unison as their owners/drivers resorted to their keys to open the doors. Infuriating for everyone, but not something that would “stop” altogether (except, maybe, for some kinds of alarms that wouldn’t allow car ignition to function without proper unlocking, but this is more of an indirect consequence rather than a direct consequence of your “sudden radio wave blackout”).

It’s beyond common people that things would be more affected:

    • Airplanes would stop communicating with TWR and some of their instruments would stop as well. Their comms happen between 108-137 MHz, which falls into the radio portion. They won’t “fall from the skies”, but accidents would start to happen as the coordination between flights would become impossible and they would need to resort to visual.
    • Radars of all kinds.
    • Some trains communicate with the railway control using the radio portion. No more switching rails for trains. Possible train wrecking.
    • Radio telescopes all around the world (and those in orbit as well) would stop. No more observing the cosmos through radio waves.
    • Some of the satellite communications that happen below the microwave range.
    • Weather satellites, it would become impossible for them to do their climate-related operations. Weather forecast would become harder to do without this source of info.

It’s a multifaceted and complex thing to try and imagine everything that would stop working. Modern society has lots of complex technologies, so I probably forgot something above.

  • Sometimes I ask myself the same question when I share things just to be faced with my own feelings of purposelessness. I mean, the purpose should be sharing it to other people that’d be interested in the content, but the Dead Internet Theory has long been far from a mere theory. The insane amounts of bots and spam led people to rely on some kind of “web of trust”, “web ring”, etc. It was needed because it’s never possible to know beforehand if a new profile will be spam/bot. And it seems good to find only what (should) fit our interests, following only people that you know whom produces good content. However, this behavior has a big downside, it rules out potentially interesting content from unknown people, which leads to the impossibility of hear and being heard, which leads to segregation, which leads to digital echo chambers. So, in such a web, friendless people, for example, inevitably fall into oblivion as they watch their content being filtered out because spam and bots needs to be filtered out.

  • I left YouTube a long time ago for a couple reasons. But besides the content creators you mentioned, I also used to follow:

    • ElectroBOOM: Mehdi talks about electrical engineer in a practical, humorous way. He has a segment called “Rectifiy” where he debunks internet videos, particularly these fake “Free energy” internet videos.
    • The Action Lab: didactic experimentations with physics.
    • Computerphille: interviews with teachers and specialist from several scientific and engineering fields, especially IT-related fields.
    • 3Blue1Brown (IIRC): mathematician.
    • Tom Scott, back when he produced videos: I guess everyone knows about him.
    • Technology Connections: often focuses on household appliances (refrigerators, air conditioners, dishwashers, lamps, etc) but also explains applied scientific knowledge and also photography.

If I remember other content creators, I’ll update my comment. It has been a long time since I abandoned YouTube.
