Just yesterday I wanted to disable sound devices. The button in the settings app even says „turn devices on/off“, but once inside the menu, there is no option to enable or disable sound devices.
Had to use the control panel again.

What are some popular examples that would be affected by this?
My favorite is turning on the bedroom lights when my alarm goes off :)
Context menu key is really useful. :D
I also switched from being a pixel user since forever because of the p7p signal issues. Agree on the tensor thing too.
Don‘t have one and honestly I don’t miss it.
I only use wired headphones at my computer.
I post again but both my 2 pixel 7 pro units had exactly the same. It not visible at all when the screen is on but still quite disappointing…
I had some bumps on my 7 pro already.
It still has to pass the vote beginning of next year.
I’m in Europe and I once asked the support and they said I cannot connect without at least using their router as a modem (in bridge mode).
So I could use my own router for my home network but would have to connect it to their provided one.
I was curious if there was some hack to make it work without their shitty provided one.
Can you elaborate? My ISP forces me to use their modem.
I know, but in the last year with the pixel no features worth mentioning got added, at least that was my experience, used to be more exciting a few years ago. Maybe I was expecting too much.
I got the pixel because they promised feature drops 🤷♂️ that’s what excites me.
A reoccurring theme unfortunately.
I can not recommend pixels anymore after owning my 7 pro for a year (been using google phones since the nexus 5x). Their own tensor chip is behind the competition by 2 years, but importantly they use a shitty modem which causes issues for a large portion of users.
Also pixels used to have a significantly better camera than others, but I feel that gap is so small now that it doesn’t matter at the high end, they’re trading blows now.
The only edge compared to the competition is getting access to google app features earlier than others, like magic eraser. Ain’t what it used to be anymore…
Overheating in summer (this is the soc not the modem but still), calls dropping constantly, bad call quality, with dual sim people couldn’t call me even though I had full reception. I got a replacement unit, created bug reports, changed providers etc… For me it was a piece of shit at the end of the day, and I’m a pixel fan :D (well was)
No issues with my pixel 1 or 3, or the iPhone.
I know this is for the 8 pro but man the modem on the 7 pro was such bullsh… All kinds of issues. So bad that even googles support gave in and offered a refund after 1 year.
For a while I was considering the 8 pro, but I think their hardware is not close to par with the others yet and the new price is a joke for a pixel.
Went for something else instead and won’t return to pixel for at least a few years.
I had the asus 1005HA seashell in black :)
HP=helvetin paska
Still have this same usb stick and it works flawlessly
