Interstellar. That ending was so unbelievably dumb that I can’t even stomach the rest of the movie thinking about it.
I know it’s got rave reviews, a stacked cast, Nolan directing. Plenty was pretty, cool concepts, high stakes scenes. But that ending… shudders

Yup, Helene, a few months ago, in Asheville NC.
You could say I’m still experiencing it, I suppose. We’ve always been a place that’s too far inland for a hurricane. Very climate insulated. That bubble has burst for us here after this storm.
It was super scary, no cell service for days, no power or water or gas for days. We have a great network of people so we were supported and supporting but it went bad for many others.
But more than scary right now, it’s sad. Just seeing the devastation
I live(d) in Asheville, NC for a decade. I’ve had the power go out pretty often, most recently for Hurricane Helene (4 days for us, and we were on the low end!). Seeing a 24-48 outage is frequent here.
We have our house wired for a generator, so it’s mostly about a cycle of rationing fuel to keep the fridge cold, charge things while it’s on, use water and fill things while it’s on (we are on a well not city water).
Beyond that, reading books, playing handheld games like the Steam Deck, lots of talking. Losing power is not the worst thing most of the time to me.
But actually, I don’t for political stuff because it is so freaking depressing, and you can’t affect it much.
