In no particular order
- Frieren
- Natsume’s Book of Friend
- Tanaka-kun is always listless
- Hunter x Hunter (2011)
- Seitokai Yakuindomo
And if the rest of the season is as good as the pilot episode, Journal with Witch. I’ve been waiting for the episode to comes out so I can hear what Asa was singing before the Bieber joke. It was delightful.
Eh, I’ll throw Sword of the Demon Hunter there aswell. I’m in my mid 30s so I don’t really care about battle scene as much, though I wish it got better animations. You could say the story is similar to Frieren, though not as tight.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•How can I optimize my jellyfin, specifically transcoding and the CPU usage involved? I'm running it off a mini pc so resources are everythingEnglish
1·4 months agoI watch a bunch of weekly anime stuff myself. Never have to worry about transcoding with my devices (locally) and just directplay it. Unless I watch it remotely then it transcodes, I never mess with the default settings and it’s fine.
My cpu is i3 8100 so I think you would be fine as well, unless it’s multiple streams at once I have no reference for that.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What was something that you thought was overhyped that actually lived up to the hype?
2·6 months agoWould you mind elaborating on your experience? Why was it exciting ? What came through your mind at the time ?
I’ve seen a solar eclipse but I’m in elementary at the time and didn’t care for it. Now I wonder if it must have been kinda terrifying the old human thought their God was mad.

2·8 months agoWhat did you dislike about synfonium? I’m considering switching since I don’t have a plex subscription anyway so I did not get to enjoy the sonic analysis featured etc.

Hi, from the future. I just look up “oled wallpaper” and pick this one 3 years ago.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's something people use the internet for that can be done just as easily offline?
4·10 months agoI also do this. But I do not necessarily think it as a bad thing.
I do not need to finish the book in one sitting, it’s fine to wander, I usually just just went on a tangent on a relevant topic though. Reading for an hour is fine, as is a 5 minute session.
Maybe immersing myself reading books just not that fun for me. But I can sit for hours studying music even without touching my instruments, just reading the chart and analysing the harmony and what not. I think reading like any other skill, needs training and I just haven’t give it enough time.
I’m a late millennial, and like it or not I’m used to being able to access relevant context and information with just a click (like Wiki).

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Jellyfin is not just good... but *better* than Plex now?!English
1·1 year agoIntro skipping works pretty well once you set it up and give it time to scan.
Iirc the feature used to be an add-on with module and I read here somewhere it now baked in out of the box, is that the case ?
You may wind up transcoding even if you think you really shouldn’t have to
I thought there’s an edge case somewhere but from your explanation I don’t think I need transcoding for video. Not that I don’t want it.
My NAS is old, like, i3 2100 old. So I just make sure the media can be played directly on my 2 client locally, so I don’t know how much HW transcode improve the performance but if it’s usable, that’s a nice bonus. Maybe if I ever get a 4K display but that’s a problem for future me.
I spent a lot of time getting the metadata right in Plex
Pretty much yeah, I really don’t wanna mess with the music library
Thanks for the answer.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Jellyfin is not just good... but *better* than Plex now?!English
3·1 year agoSince you run both, I have a few questions if you don’t mind.
I don’t have a plex pass but, so the only feature I want is intro skipping and from what you mention I understand it needs tinkering. Acceptable for me.
My usage is pretty simple if I migrate to Jellyfin do I need to fuck around with my folder structures ? No special case just /movie/title | tv/title in my use-case with the usual arr stack for grabbing.
The client used currently is a desktop client on arch/windows and I don’t need hardware transcoding. The server and libraries are on Truenas.
I don’t need remote playback for movies/tvs but I have no idea how to replace Plexamp and if you have suggestions, feel free to mention it.

The rest of their discography is fantastic, but their lyrics in this album which penned by their former bass player is just another league.
