Baseball is sooooo much better now with the pitch clock. I still don’t watch it as much as I did years ago, but it is infinitely more palatable now.

I threw it on an old PC a few weeks ago and am pleasantly surprised at how polished it is.
hydrashok@sh.itjust.worksto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is your experience with cutting ties with family?10·17 days agoRip the bandaid off. It was very nice getting rid of the toxic family I had when I was young. You don’t owe them anything.

A computer running a citywide automated traffic system for cars would have all the same complexity, without the ability to separate traffic in three dimensions.
hydrashok@sh.itjust.worksto Technology@lemmy.world•China's latest flying car prototype showcases a breakthrough in urban air mobility, offering a glimpse into how low-altitude flight could soon integrate with everyday transport.English34·19 days agoThere are a whole lot less obstacles and unknowns in the air, as well as more planes (ha!) of separation available than a car.
When flying, you don’t really need to worry much about random pedestrians, for example.
If the entire system were completely automated, from the car all the way to ATC, and it’s essentially a taxi that you just tell what location to go to and it handles the rest… well that’s basically air traffic today minus the automated ATC part. (That isn’t to diminish pilots at all; just that I think it’d be a lot easier, in general, to replace a pilot than a taxi driver with automation. They’re both still extremely challenging problems.)

hydrashok@sh.itjust.worksto Technology@lemmy.world•Is it time to ring the alarm on internet door cameras?English2·3 months agoI think you only need the controller or phone app for setup or config changes. Though it is easier, in my opinion, to just run a controller. You can (at least last time I checked) still self host one if you like. If you’re just doing network config and monitoring, you don’t need much in terms of performance.

I fucking wish that was all that asshole was enthralled by.
I’d recommend watching Heretic. I thought he crushed it as a bad guy. I also liked him in The Gentleman. Both are far from his Notting Hill and Two Weeks Notice romcom type stuff.
