I found one in community dance, specifically local folk dance. The median age is probably 65, so it’s adaptable to a wide range of athleticism levels, but it does require significant mobility.

I absolutely loved it until covid, and then I moved, but it was a wonderful group of people through whom I met dear friends, found a job offer, learned a bunch of things, and found a home.

They don’t think the US does, they think it should. You don’t need to be so aggressive about it.

It’s harder on the upswing for me. Maybe it’s because January and February seem to stretch on after the holidays, but I don’t really get tired of winter until later (luckily).

My “picker” was broken for many years, so I have a bunch of crazy exes. Just because you’re the common denominator doesn’t mean that you’re an asshole. Predators often seek out traumatized people, but you’ll have to work on making yourself a bad target for them if you want to avoid them. I’m sorry, it’s not fair.

Well yeah, but the oils separate and you can skim off the sesame oil, then filter the seed fragments out. Is it just the hassle? That’s understandable, but I’ve made butter and that’s a hassle too.

Why can’t you make seed oils at home?

I’m not at all tech savvy[1], but it’s not that hard, honestly.

[1] context: I know that when a steam game doesn’t work, sometimes I need to reinstall a driver, but I never remember how or where to do that. I use an iPhone from 2016, and I unlock it with my fingerprint.

Entropy is ever expanding, so there’s no way to do no harm, though ideally we each try to do as little as possible. There are some parts of our lives where there’s no perfect answer, like technology or clothing, because for the most part, those are both generally exploitative and necessary to support yourself. In these cases, buying second hand can help, but it’s still a secondary market for products that benefit from slavery and/or it’s a separate, new evil like Goodwill or the Salvation Army. Taxes are also necessary, and the only workable remedies for the awful things that are paid for by those taxes are petitioning and electing as representative a government as possible or bringing it all down (which would itself include quite a lot of violence).

This is a totally different thing. This is investing excess money into an evil thing so that you can profit. There’s no requirement here, it’s an entirely voluntary worsening of the world.

Then it really seems like you’re providing funds for slavery and wishing it wasn’t harmful.

Are you organizing in any way to see that you can cooperate with like minded people? I’m not trying to be rude, but you should really think about the effect you want to leave on the world (not just you, everyone should).

That makes the world worse though. Do you really want to make the world a worse place?
