Well, now I wonder what it is that an instance may offer over others. I just picked an instance from some resource that said to pick something popular but not too popular and had some suggestions. Wonder what I’m missing from other instances
Do instances offer something that set them apart from the rest?
Muricans’ ability to make any and every thing about themselves amazes me
There’s Ambient Music Mod, “Port of Now Playing from Pixels to other Android devices”. It’s not the same, but it allows for your device to recognise popular music even while offline, possibly on a regular basis. It requires Shizuku, though.
Uhm akschually you can use RJ45 and get cabled internet
Is mayonnaise a technology?
Back to the Future but instead of going back in time, you’re actually jumping to an alternate universe that happens to be the exact same as yours but whose time is shifted enough that the date there is the one you wanted to go to
I wonder if the next president could do something to stop that… seems like the head of DOGE might like it (or not, if that means contrarians disappear and stop “community noting” his posts, and allow for a more echoey chamber)
Shouldn’t sports have categories based on abilities? I see people be like “trans women are stronger than cis women cause, idk, testosterone or something” and I just think, y’know, if that’s a problem, why aren’t categories based on strength or abilities or whatever?
It’s not stealing if you give it back afterwards
Well, what if they somehow manage to get into my password manager account? I mean, it has a login, like any other account. The way to prevent it would be to have a strong enough password. Regardless, if they somehow got my main password, they’d have free access to all my credentials everywhere, and would be able to log into them as easily as I can. I mean, it is easier to secure one account well vs. however many others that the password manager can take care of. But still, a centralised hub with easy access to all my accounts feels like a one-stop shop for taking over my online life
I mean, to myself, I can deal with the consequences of my choices (as much as they can suck sometimes). But recommending stuff to other people I find complicated. I mean, I’ve gotten locked out of accounts due to 2fa (some being old and lost to time, others due to an unlucky series of events and a last minute half-assed backup) and even had to troubleshoot and/or reinstall (Linux) operating systems on my laptop (one instance of which relates to the aforementioned 2fa incident). To recommend something to someone and risk something like that, and be responsible for it… I mean, I once had to help troubleshoot a non-booting Linux machine via messages and photos during lunch out, and I myself am not an expert, so I had to online research from my phone and relay the information
Say, what are the chances either

Is there nothing that can be done about it? Maybe have some sort of community to find smaller communities. Maybe people just don’t know (and maybe don’t look for or find) there’s a community they might like
Is the audience for it not here or does the audience not find smaller communities? I for one just browse whatever loads up on Jerboa, and created an account mainly to have some control over what I see (i.e., blocking stuff I’m not interested in). I don’t know that I’d find smaller communities if they don’t get more popular or popular communities get less active to the point of these smaller communities showing up. I don’t know that I can search for anything but communities (on Jerboa, at least). Is there even a search for general, idk, posts and stuff? Not denying maybe the audience isn’t here. Just think maybe finding smaller communities isn’t as easy (or maybe it’s just me, idk. I’m not even looking for specific communities, tbh. Lemmy is my “eh, I’m not doing nothing right now. Imma just check this app on my phone”)
Can we not create the communities we wish to see on Lemmy ourselves? I know it might not be full of people at first, but if it at least exists, people who want to interact about said topic in said community can find it eventually and do so, and it can grow over time. Or is this not how it works? Is my logic flawed in any way?
I don’t really have much to say on the topic, even as someone with autism myself, but I hope things get better for you! Life has its ups and downs, and I hope brighter days will come for you!
Here, have a tune: https://youtu.be/UFtNhNuUN8Y
I hope it makes you feel a tad better or something. I know I like this song a lot, and this artist is one that I have listened to a lot when feeling more “down.” I hope it might make you feel better, or at least have some positive effect!
Don’t fret. I was the one reading quickly, leading to a misreading. Hence why I was able to spot my mistake upon re-reading your comment
