An actual list of the “problems everyone hopes they never have” category of our various problems is pretty long right now, and many of them are more personal than I want to share.
Shit’s not the worst it’s ever been for us currently, but financially it’s closer than my wife realizes it is (because she’s got enough to deal with right now), and (gestures around at everything Trump related) I’m figuring several of our problems are going to get worse before they get better.
I’ve got long and medium term plans to sort most of it out, but like all such plans they depend on the short term stuff going at least more or less as I hope, and on the complete collapse of US society not actually happening.

2·5 months agoI can’t say for sure. I think in at least some cases the blackouts are to support local cable tv, which we no longer subscribe to. I don’t think there tend to be games that can be watched only in person, but it’s possible I just don’t know.
Nothing gets you guaranteed hero worship and respect like being able to throw or kick a ball or similar in the US. The economics around it are unsurprisingly huge and complex, as everyone tries to be sure they get their piece.
Wait until you hear about how you cannot pay to watch all the NFL/NBA/MLB/NHL games in your market on a streaming service. Unless something has very recently changed, there’s no method of legitimately paying where you won’t still experience blackouts.

33·5 months agoHint: the reason it’s this way is that the elite control the media. If you’re fighting with your financial equals on the other side, then both sides aren’t getting together to fight the rich.
The focus of this cartoon is, I believe, an Austrailian(?) politician. I think it works though as “generic oligarch” or “Republicans.”

I can tell you that what I said is accurate with certainty.
It wasn’t my intent to argue with your experience, it just wasn’t the impression I came away with.
streamers were harassed, assaulted, doxed, stalked, and shut out from protests because they were creating evidence that was used to prosecute protesters doing crime.
Yeah I saw some streamers get in to trouble with some specific groups of protestors for that reason, but didn’t see it very often on the streams I was watching. I also listened to some interviews with Portland protestors on the Uprising podcast who felt that was a bit excessive, so didn’t think it was particularly widespread.
For example there is a protest right now in Los Angeles. News coverage exits, but no independent livestreamers.
